Charlotte Manley's service to the Crown has been recognised with multiple honours over the years, beginning with an OBE in 1996

Charlotte Manley, who served as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's personal assistant for seven years, has indicated she is willing to speak to the police regarding her time working for the disgraced former prince.

The 68-year-old held the position of assistant private secretary and treasurer to Andrew from 1996, before being promoted to private secretary and treasurer in 2001, a role she maintained until 2003.

When approached by The Times at her Wiltshire residence about her experiences serving Andrew, Manley stated: "I would rather talk to the police than the press, not that I would have much to tell them."

The newspaper had sought to question her about payments made during her tenure and whether she had witnessed anything concerning.

It has been claimed that Manley authorised a £75 payment from a Coutts bank account belonging to the royal family in June 2000, allegedly compensating a South African masseuse for attending Andrew at Buckingham Palace.

The appointment had been arranged by Ghislaine Maxwell, who was herself a client of Monique Giannelloni's Kensington massage clinic.

Maxwell had reportedly told Giannelloni: "I am going to introduce you to someone more famous than God."

The masseuse claims she subsequently received a booking call from Manley for a treatment at the palace, where she claims security allowed her through without apparent background checks.

Describing her arrival at Andrew's room, Giannelloni told the Daily Mail in 2019: "I got to the room and Andrew was stood there in a robe. After saying 'hello', he disappeared to the bathroom and came back in the nude. I averted my eyes and I was quite embarrassed."

She added there were no issues during the massage and that Andrew was otherwise "very nice and very gentlemanly".

Prior to joining Andrew's household, Manley had enjoyed a distinguished two-decade career as a Royal Navy officer between 1976 and 1996.

Her service to the Crown has been recognised with multiple honours over the years, beginning with an OBE in 1996.

She was subsequently appointed Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 2018, an honour bestowed personally by the monarch for extraordinary service to the sovereign or royal family.

Most recently, the King included Manley in his 2026 New Year's Honours list, elevating her to Dame Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.

Following her departure from Andrew's service in 2003, she took up the position of chapter clerk at St George's Chapel, Windsor, from which she retired last year.

Throughout her tenure with Andrew, Manley frequently appeared in the Court Circular accompanying him on overseas engagements as trade envoy, or greeting him upon his return at various airports and airfields.

Her travels with the former prince took her to numerous destinations including New York shortly after his 2001 appointment as the UK's special representative for trade and investment, as well as Bulgaria, Brazil, the Falkland Islands, Peru and Canada.

There is no suggestion that Ms Manley had any knowledge of unrelated allegations of criminal wrongdoing by Andrew, which he denies.
