The White House has hit back at a “fake narrative to smear President Trump” over new Jeffrey Epstein emails that were leaked by House Democrats.
Oval Office Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt slammed the “selectively leaked” emails from Epstein to Ghislaine Maxwell, which appeared to discuss Mr Trump spending time at the convicted pedophile’s house with a sex trafficking victim.
“The Democrats selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump,” Ms Leavitt said following leak to US outlets.
"The ‘unnamed victim’ referenced in these emails is the late Virginia Giuffre, who repeatedly said President Trump was not involved in any wrongdoing whatsoever and 'couldn’t have been friendlier' to her in their limited interactions.

"The fact remains that President Trump kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his club decades ago for being a creep to his female employees, including Giuffre."
"These stories are nothing more than bad-faith efforts to distract from President Trump’s historic accomplishments, and any American with common sense sees right through this hoax and clear distraction from the government opening back up again," the White House Press Secretary added.
The apparent email exchange appeared to show Epstein and Maxwell discussing a meeting with Mr Trump.
"I want you to realise that the dog that hasn't barked is Trump," the email read.

"[Victim] spent hours at my house with him, he has never once been mentioned, police chief etc."
"I have been thinking about that," Maxwell replied.
Further emails seem to claim "of course he knew about the girls", and that he "asked Ghislaine to stop".
In emails also leaked by the Democrats with American journalist Michael Wolff and Epstein, the pair seemed to be discussing an upcoming CNN interview for Mr Trump.
Mr Wolff has written four books discussing the Trump presidency and claimed he spoke to Epstein about Trump during his reporting and research for the books.

"I hear CNN planning to ask Trump tonight about his relationship with you--either on air or in scrum afterwards," Wolff initially emailed to Epstein in December 2015.
By this time, Mr Trump had officially entered the race for the White House.
"If we were to craft an answer for him, what do you think it should be?" Epstein replied.
Mr Wolff suggested Epstein should "let him hang himself", adding "if he says he hasn't been on the plane or to the house, then that gives you a valuable PR and political currency."
"You can hang him in a way that potentially generates a positive benefit for you, or, if it really looks like he could win, you could save him, generating a debt," he continued.
"Of course, it is possible that, when asked, he'll say Jeffrey is a great guy and has gotten a raw deal and is a victim of political correctness, which is to be outlawed in a Trump regime."
Full context of the emails has yet to be released by the Democrats.
In July, President Trump posted a long social media that blamed Democrats for stirring controversy about files relating to Epstein.
"Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this 'b******' hook, line, and sinker," he wrote at the time.

"Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats' work, don't even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don't want their support anymore!"
The news comes as House Speaker Mike Johnson is scheduled to swear in Arizona Democrat Adelita Grijalva, who won an election last month.
When sworn in, which is expected to occur today, Grijalva pledged to release the Epstein files. Mr Johnson is said to have given reasons for the delay.
Mr Trump was reportedly told in May by his Attorney General that his name had appeared in the investigation files into Epstein.
However, this is not evidence of criminal activity and Mr Trump has not been accused of wrongdoing in the case.
The President claimed he fell out with Epstein in the early 2000s, two years before the former financier was arrested for the first time.
Mr Trump has also since claimed that he was "not a fan" of Epstein after 2008, allegedly due to the convicted paedophile's behaviour.
