Speaking at a campaign rally in Manchester, New Hampshire, the former President warned that any future Commander-in-Chief would be left “impotent” and “unable to act” if they feared the opposing party “will indict them for anything they do.”
Trump told the 10,000-strong crowd that President Harry Truman would not have dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the Second World War if he believed he could later be prosecuted.
He also likened a lack of presidential immunity to a police officer without the “authority and power” to stop crime.
