Residents of Rochdale have voiced despair at George Galloway’s success in the constituency with The Workers Party candidate romping to victory in the by-election.
Several spoke to GB News as The People’s Channel sought to learn about the public sentiment towards the vote.
Galloway’s majority of 5,697 votes amounted to 18.3 per cent of the total, on a turnout of 39.7 per cent.
One resident told GB News the area has been “let down for three decades”.

“I can’t think of anything Galloway has done for anything else, so what the hell is he going to do for Rochdale?”, one said.
“I just think we shouldn’t be talking about Gaza. I understand what is going on and I don’t like it.

“But I think we should be talking about Rochdale. We have been let down for the last three decades. The town centre really needs an uplift.”
Another constituent asked “what is he going to do for Rochdale?, I just don’t know.”
Another admitted to feeling “disappointed”, adding they are “ashamed” of being from Rochdale.
Galloway was also accused of “taking advantage” of the large Asian community in the area to accrue votes.

George Galloway built his campaign around the Gaza conflictPAOne constituent told GB News’s Jack Carson they were pleased with the result, arguing Galloway is often “on the right side of history”.
“I think it’s a really good thing for Rochdale and the country in general”, he said.
“I think it’s been a long time coming and it’s the right thing for the country at the right time.”
Labour has warned Galloway will stoke “fear and division” after they were forced to pull support for their candidate Azhar Ali.
A leaked recording of Ali making inflammatory remarks about Israel were enough to see the party withdraw its support, but he remained listed as the Labour candidate as the party’s decision came too late for the ballot papers to be changed.
Galloway said: “Keir Starmer, this is for Gaza. You have paid, and you will pay, a high price for the role that you have played in enabling, encouraging and covering for the catastrophe presently going on in occupied Palestine in the Gaza Strip.”
He also declared “Labour is on notice” and a “shifting of the tectonic plates” away from Sir Keir’s party.
