Reform's home affairs frontman predicted a 'total wipeout for the uniparty'

Zia Yusuf has pinpointed a "critical" moment for GB News viewers while blasting Britain's "low-grade" leaders walking the halls of Westminster.

The Reform bigwig took aim at the elected classes - past and present - while he forecast a "total electoral wipeout" for Labour and the Conservatives in the upcoming elections.

Speaking to GB News, Mr Yusuf explained how he was enraged by the state of Britain's defence after the Iran conflict shone a light on the UK's readiness for war.

Today, HMS Dragon - one of Britain's Type 45 Destroyers - finally reached the eastern Mediterranean this week after setting sail from Portsmouth almost three weeks ago.

The £1billion warship's maintenance was expedited after RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus was targeted by an Iranian-made drone on the second day of the war.

As a result, Sir Keir Starmer has been lambasted for the dwindling capability of British Armed Forces following years of underfunding by successive Governments.

But the crisis deteriorated even further after Defence Secretary John Healey claimed the UK had 17 destroyers and frigates ready - when the number is actually 13.

"Exactly how the Minister of Defence in this country does not know how many ships our Navy has, how many destroyers our Navy has... It's absolutely bananas," Mr Yusuf said incredulously. "It explains a lot."

He added: "The current Defence Secretary, I'm afraid, has disgraced himself at that interview.

"And the Prime Minister's obviously disgraced himself with his conduct throughout this war. But I will say this: it is the Tories who hollowed our military out."

However, Reform's home affairs spokesman added: "And, actually, in some ways it can make you quite positive.

"That might sound crazy, but imagine we actually had some competent people with some integrity in these positions because we had hyper competent, high integrity people in this position and the country was still going to the dogs.

"There's not much room to improve it. I know because, you know, I spend time in Westminster, I meet some of these people.

"I'm afraid they are very low grade. They are very low competence. Many of them are very low integrity. I will say this, though: our British military has been hollowed out."

Mr Yusuf argued Reform was set to "take another huge step towards Nigel Farage becoming Britain's next Prime Minister" at the next round of Local Elections on May 7.

He continued: "In large parts of the country where these elections are happening, including Essex, where the Tories and Labour colluded, to try to stop those elections from happening.

"You're going to see a massive - almost a wipeout - of what we call the uniparty, the Tories and Labour.

"I think they're going to lose a huge number of their councillors, and I'm confident Reform is going to do well.

"We don't take anything for granted and that's why I really urge anyone who supports Nigel, who supports Reform or even if you're not that into politics, but you can see the decline this country has suffered from - then these elections coming up in May are going to be critical."

His words echoed that of his leader, who has said on the campaign trail that the pivotal moment would be a "stepping stone to change in national Government".
