The last time the Tories polled so low came almost six years ago in June 2019

Reform UK has been handed a record-breaking polling lead just days after taking hundreds of council seats across England in May 1's local elections.

Nigel Farage's party now sits 12 points clear of the Conservatives and seven clear of Labour.

Reform is now also the only one out of the top three parties to have made gains between May 5 and 6 since the last survey was conducted between April 27 and 28.

Fresh data released by YouGov this morning has revealed that 29 per cent of Britons would vote Reform if a General Election were held tomorrow - with 22 opting for Labour, and just 17 for the Tories.

That represents an increase of three per cent for Reform, and slumps of one and three per cent respectively for Labour and the Conservatives - the latter of which now sits just one point clear of the Liberal Democrats.

The last time the Tories polled so low in YouGov data came almost six years ago in June 2019 - just before Boris Johnson was selected as their leader.

Reform has never polled this highly - though it reached 26 per cent in the same month in June 2019 as the Brexit Party.

Later on Wednesday, the party was handed another polling lead, this time from More In Common.

Reacting to that data, which projected that 27 per cent of Britons would vote for Reform UK at a General Election, deputy leader Richard Tice said: "Another record Reform poll... [and] these are before the latest Labour mass immigration blunder."

Meanwhile, More In Common director and polling expert Luke Tryl said: "Reform UK momentum continues as they hit 27 per cent in our voting intention poll, their highest we have recorded and [their] first lead outside the margin of error."

Tryl added: "Story of the Parliament: Labour's lead falls over the summer, the Tories enjoy a brief bump around their conference and end of leadership contest before dipping back, Reform make gains during early 2025.

"Three-way tie since, now Reform open small lead. Question: Will it last or fade post locals?"

Responding to all the figures, a Reform UK spokesman told GB News: "The writing is on the wall for the Conservative Party - they are a party in terminal decline.

"The results of last week's elections show that Reform UK has replaced the Conservatives as the real opposition to Labour in England, Scotland and Wales.

"The lesson for future elections is simple: if you vote Conservative, you will get Labour.

"By supporting the Conservatives, you split the Reform UK vote. If you vote Reform UK, you get Reform UK."

GB News has approached the Conservative Party for comment.
