Police search Lord Mandelson's homes as part of Jeffrey Epstein investigation

A second search took place at another property connected to Lord Mandelson in Wiltshire.

The Metropolitan Police's deputy assistant commissioner Hayley Sewart stressed the 72-year-old man included in the investigation has not been arrested.

She said: "I can confirm that officers from the Met’s Central Specialist Crime team are in the process of carrying out search warrants at two addresses, one in the Wiltshire area, and another in the Camden area.

"The searches are related to an ongoing investigation into misconduct in public office offences, involving a 72-year-old man. He has not been arrested and enquiries are ongoing."

Photos taken outside Lord Mandelson's Regent's Park home appeared to show two police officers entering the property earlier this afternoon.

One officer appeared to be wearing a small body camera.

Three more officers arrived at Lord Mandelson's home a short time later.

They collected a blue box and a large bag before re-entering the property near Regent’s Park in central London.

Scotland Yard formally launched its criminal investigation into allegations about Lord Mandelson on February 3.

The ex-Business Secretary had been accused of leaking Downing Street emails and market-sensitive information to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

The revelations sparked a furious backlash from MPs in Westminster, with Reform UK and the Scottish National Party reporting the allegations to the Metropolitan Police.

Ex-Prime Minister Gordon Brown also wrote to Scotland Yard about Lord Mandelson's friendship with Epstein.

Messages sent in 2008 appear to show Lord Mandelson discussing Treasury plans for a one-off tax on bankers' bonuses with Epstein.

Another exchange allegedly indicated Lord Mandelson gave advanced notice to Epstein about a £430million bailout from the European Union to save the bloc's single currency.

Sir Keir Starmer, who accused his one-time ally of being a "liar" and "betrayal" earlier this week, is under increasing pressure after appointing Lord Mandelson as the UK's Ambassador to the US.

The Prime Minister was forced to sack Lord Mandelson following fresh revelations about Lord Mandelson's relationship with Epstein.

However, Sir Keir appears to have known about the ex-Business Secretary's friendship with Epstein ahead of appointing him to his short-lived post in Washington.

During a heated exchange at Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday, Sir Keir admitted he was aware of Lord Mandelson had visited Epstein's home.

Labour rebels warn the Prime Minister is at risk of being ousted from No10.

Speaking in Hastings yesterday, Sir Keir said: “The victims of Epstein have lived with trauma that most of us could barely comprehend, and they have to relive it again and again. They have seen accountability delayed and too often denied to them.

“I want to say this. I am sorry – sorry for what was done to you, sorry that so many people with power failed, sorry for having believed Mandelson’s lies and appointed him, and sorry that even now you’re forced to watch this story unfold in public once again.”
