Mr Farage declared that nothing his rivals nor the establishment media throw at him will stop him getting to No10

Nigel Farage has said Reform UK is going to win the next General Election - and has vowed to "Make Britain Great Again".

The Reform leader said he knew tough days lie ahead, but declared that nothing his rivals nor the establishment media throw at him will stop him getting to No10.

Speaking at an event to mark GB News’ expansion into the United States of America, Mr Farage also told how he felt Brexit had been the launchpad to Donald Trump’s first term in office.

Addressing more than 500 VIP political and business figures at Ned's Club in Washington DC, Mr Farage said: “I am leading a political party that I think is going to win the next General Election.

“When I’m in No10, it might make doing my evening show on GB News trickier, but I've never obeyed conventional rules in the past, so maybe we'll just keep going. In all seriousness, I have drawn amazing inspiration from the MAGA movement in this country.

“I've travelled the length and breadth of America. I'm the only figure from the other side of Parliament that has consistently stood behind Trump, and stood behind the MAGA movement.

“I have never wavered in my thoughts or my views for one minute, even when it was an unpopular thing to do. And great things are happening here, I think, in many, many ways.

"I think the Brexit result directly led to much of the momentum that got Trump to win in 2016 and I was proud to come and speak at rallies for the President.

“Now I think it bounces back the other way. I think your success in 2024 bounces back on us. It gives us hope that things can and indeed must change in our country.

“We're in deep, deep trouble, but we know it can be turned around. We know Margaret Thatcher turned Britain around. And that is what we're going to do. We're going to turn it around.

We're 10 to 15 points ahead. I'm going to get so much abuse from the media over the next few years.

"I know what they're going to say. They're going to say that I'm a drinker. They’re going to say that I'm a smoker. They're going to say that I'm a gambler. They're going to say that I'm a womaniser. The trouble is, it's all true. So really, really, what can they hit me with!?"

"I'm not really very worried, and that's one of the great things, isn't it?

“We know in this room who we are. We know what we believe in. We know the values that work that have made Western civilisation work, and we're doing it because we want our kids and grandkids to enjoy those same freedoms and those same privileges, and that's why I'm here. That's why you're here, and that's why you've won in this country.

“We will win in our country too. And to have a media channel like GB News prepared to take on the wokery, the left wing-ism, the negativity, the managed decline, to have a news channel that believes that we can make Britain great again is so important.

"You might have heard that phrase before, but we must believe that we can make Britain great again, and that's the mission that I've been on. That's the mission that we've been on."

Paying tribute to the special UK-US relationship, he continued: “We read the same books, we watch the same movies, we listen to the same music, we share a language, and our countries are closer than ever. You know, back in the 1980s, Margaret Thatcher always said, when the US and the UK are close, the world is a better and safer place. And she was right."

Reflecting on the growth of GB News ahead of its new show launch in America later this month, Mr Farage said: “It was just over four years ago that a new TV channel launched in the United Kingdom, GB News - and very rapidly, it was the biggest joke in town. It was the butt of cartoons. It wasn't going to survive. It was a joke. It wasn't professional.

"And a few weeks in, it was having a few problems. And then it sunk to the depths... It gave Nigel Farage an evening show, which guaranteed failure, of course, didn't it?

"And yet here we are, four years on - the number one news channel in the United Kingdom. And, I have used this line before, but I use it again because I like it. ‘They all laughed at us. Well, let me tell you, they're not laughing now.’

“I've been very proud to be a part of it, and I think this initiative for us to have the show that'll be filmed live here in DC every evening from Midnight to 2am and broadcast back into the United Kingdom and into Europe could be quite transformative.

“President Trump has had a bad rap all the way through, loathed, utterly loathed by mainstream media, and therefore the opinions of so many in our country are formed through that prism. This is going to be completely different.

"This will be a two-hour show every day that will actually talk about a President who made a series of promises - and guess what. Guess what? He kept them. It's unbelievable, isn't it?

“It's a very, very exciting moment, and I think that our content coming out of DC into Britain and Europe is going to be an absolute massive hit, and it will change perceptions about who Donald Trump is.”
