Christopher Hope has revealed the reason why Labour MPs have been dodging opportunities to speak directly to GB News viewers amid the ongoing scandal surrounding Lord Mandelson's appointment as the UK's Ambassador to the US.
GB News's political editor was speaking after several fruitless attempts to get a Labour perspective on the status of the embattled Prime Minister.
Earlier, Chris posted on X that the chair and deputy chair of the Intelligence and Security Committee, Lord Beamish and Sir Jeremy Wright, had refused to speak on College Green just outside the House of Parliament.
“I've been asking myself in Parliament, and they don't want to come on,” he said.

“Some said they've been told they can't (speak to the press) by the party. The party denied that. But privately, one told me this, and it's quite telling.
“They think that Keir Starmer is now in the same position as Boris Johnson was after Partygate,” Chris said.
Chris revealed that the parliamentarians were running for cover due to uncertainty over Sir Keir’s future in Downing Street.
“It's because they don't know what to say and they don't know what comes next… they're not sure what to say next,” he said.

“Labour MPs are reluctant to come on GB News to defend the Prime Minister because they're not sure what's around the corner,” Chris observed.
Sir Keir has come under renewed intense pressure following fresh revelations about the vetting process of Lord Mandelson and the bombshell testimony of the now-ousted Foreign Office chief, Sir Olly Robbins.
Delivering his own verdict on the Prime Minister’s position, Chris said: “I've never said this before on GB News, but this looks like the very end of days for Sir Keir Starmer.”
“It's hard to see how he gets out of this. The MPs look depressed and sad around him.

“It may be the beginning of the end of this Prime Minister.”
However, Chris pointed out that the situation was not exactly like the dying days of Boris Johnson’s premiership.
“Back then, there were many Tories who could replace Boris Johnson, but there's none who can step forward and replace Keir Starmer.
“Look at the list of people. Angela Rayner is still under investigation by HMRC. Andy Burnham is not an MP. Wes Streeting is too close to Peter Mandelson.

“Shabana Mahmood is not popular in the party despite the admiring glances from Reform UK and elsewhere for her work on the border and trying to secure it.
“So for now he limps on,” Chris determined.
Earlier, Chris spoke to the parliamentary watchdog's chief, Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, who shared his verdict on when Keir Starmer will be ousted from Downing Street.
The veteran MP predicted: “This is the beginning to build up, the lull before the storm. It's obvious that something was going to happen.”
