Keir Starmer “still has room to manoeuvre” amid intense pressure on him to vacate Downing Street, claimed political commentator Charlie Rowley.
At least 72 Labour MPs have called for the Prime Minister to step down, with Cabinet Ministers also said to be demanding a resignation roadmap.
The Foreign and Home Secretaries have both reportedly demanded an “orderly transition of power” following Labour's bruising local election defeats.
Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy and Defence Secretary John Healey are said to have discussed with Sir Keir how to take a “responsible, dignified and orderly” approach to whatever he decides to do.
However, Mr Rowley told GB News Sir Keir had options to cling onto power.
“We can get lost in the hype of 81 MPs saying that the Prime Minister should go.
“There could be 150 Labour MPs who say that the Prime Minister should go. By the end of the day, he's got 411 MPs on his backbenches.
“He's got ample room to manoeuvre and to replace those individuals,” he insisted.

Regarding the pressure from Cabinet Ministers, Mr Rowley explained that their reported comments so far would not be enough.
“You have to make the decision to either resign from my Government or name the person that you want to succeed,” he said, channelling the Prime Minister.
Mr Rowley said only mass resignations from the top team would produce “the moment where he has to resign”.
“The Prime Minister is a process. That's why he's unpopular.

“That's why he doesn't get the politics. And the process is that you have to name an alternative to succeed him. And until people do that, he is No10. He's in command.”
Meanwhile, six ministerial aides have had to be replaced by No10, after they either quit or called for the PM to go.
“They are essentially the bad carriers to the actual ministers. They're not ministers themselves,” the political commentator stressed.
“Boris had far more people resigning under his government, as did Theresa over Brexit deals, and she was still able to form a Government.
“Gordon Brown was able to hunker down in 2009, a man who's just been brought back under Sir Keir Starmer.
“He's got people on his side who know how to see off these kinds of coups left, right, left, right and centre.”
To that end, Mr Rowley bid Sir Keir to “hunker down” and oversee the King’s Speech on Wednesday.
The political commentator said it would be “bizarre” if the Prime Minister were to announce his resignation as the Monarch was setting out the Government’s legislative agenda.
