The Prime Minister allegedly said: 'Mrs Todd, I think you could be racist'

A pensioner who featured prominently in the Prime Minister's Labour conference address has disputed his version of events, branding him dishonest about their decade-old encounter.

Joyce Todd, aged 79, discovered she was the unnamed Oldham resident in Sir Keir Starmer's Tuesday speech when he described meeting a woman with "strong views on immigration" in 2015.

The retired trade journalist has now spoken out, declaring "Keir Starmer is a liar" and insisting the Labour leader continues to misunderstand immigration concerns.

Her forceful response comes after Sir Keir portrayed their meeting as a turning point that helped him recognise how Labour had mishandled immigration issues in his Labour Party conference speech.

The Prime Minister recounted being welcomed into Mrs Todd's home for tea and Rich Tea biscuits, where she allegedly displayed wedding photographs of her Asian neighbour to demonstrate she wasn't prejudiced.

However, Mrs Todd firmly contradicts these details, stating no biscuits were served and no photo albums were produced during the brief encounter.

According to her recollection, the meeting involved Sir Keir occupying one armchair whilst she sat in another, with his staff positioned on the sofa, lasting under 15 minutes.

She recounts expressing concerns about Eastern European men creating disturbances in her neighbourhood through spitting and antisocial behaviour, prompting an unexpected response from the future Prime Minister.

She told the Daily Mail: "I told him about these issues, and he said: 'Mrs Todd, I think you could be racist'."

The accusation deeply offended the community volunteer, who responded by highlighting her friendships within the Asian community and her participation in their celebrations and events.

"I said: 'That's not right at all, and if that's how you feel you can leave my house now'. And they did," she explained.

The lifelong Labour supporter revealed she cast her ballot for Sir Keir's party in July's election but now regrets that decision entirely.

She said: "Never again," expressing dismay at Labour's handling of the nation and particularly its approach to migration issues.

Mrs Todd announced her intention to support Reform at the next election, dismissing concerns about Nigel Farage and predicting many neighbours, including established Asian residents, would follow suit.

She criticised the Government's border control efforts, arguing the situation has deteriorated despite pledges to combat trafficking networks.

The pensioner added: "What has he actually done? It's got worse," maintaining that legitimate concerns about immigration are too often dismissed as prejudice.
