Keir Starmer's 'one focus' revealed as PM accused of 'piggybacking' Donald Trump's Gaza peace deal​

Speaking in the House of Commons today, Sir Keir heaped praise on the US President's peace deal, declaring "none of it would have been possible" without him.

The Prime Minister said he was "proud" of Britain's efforts and how the UK recognised the state of Palestine, claiming the UK has "worked behind the scenes for months" in helping secure a deal between Israel and Hamas.

Delivering his verdict on Sir Keir's role in the peace deal, Mr Hodges told GB News: "This is obviously not going to play well in the red wall, but the key point is Keir Starmer is no longer interested in the Red Wall or speaking to the Red Wall.

"He's now just got one focus, which is to try and save his premiership as he believes as the leadership challenge coming in the next few months and he's doing everything he can to see that off."

Noting how Sir Keir's strategy is now "very different" to the one he adopted pre-election, he added: "We've had obviously this pivot to attack Brexit, and in the conference speech we saw the very aggressive attack on Nigel Farage and the racism.

"The issue of Gaza and Palestine, we saw the unilateral and premature recognition of Palestine. All of these moves are, as I say, to try and jeer him up and, if you recall, are obviously very different from the strategy that he was pursuing in the run up to the election and immediately after the election."

Criticising Sir Keir's praise of the Gaza peace deal despite his insignificant role in the creation of it, Mr Hodges said: "When it did become clear that there'd been this major breakthrough, suddenly we had these briefings starting to emerge from Downing Street about how Britain had had this major role to play behind the scenes.

"We had Yvette Cooper went rushing off to Paris, I'm not entirely sure what she was supposed to be doing in Paris, and we've all seen that cringe worthy clip of Keir Starmer yesterday, thinking he was being invited by Donald Trump to speak and then being pushed into into the background.

"And it does emphasise just how irrelevant Britain has been during this process."

Highlighting the impact of the Prime Minister's decision to recognise the state Palestine, he revealed: "I was speaking to senior diplomatic sources last week, who were telling me that Britain's decision to recognise Palestine and the fact that Britain was moving towards that position, actually for a short period, did actually derail the peace talks.

"Hamas was emboldened, and rather than feeling they needed to make concessions, they sort of withdrew for a while. Now, obviously, fortunately, Trump managed to force them back to the negotiating table. But as has been said, this was Donald Trump's deal. This was Israel's deal. This was part of a negotiation with Hamas that, frankly, Britain had no role in."

Predicting the future fate for Sir Keir, Mr Hodges claimed that a "perfect storm" is brewing in the UK political sphere.

He concluded: "I do think we are starting to experience a perfect storm here in the UK, with a weakened Prime Minister who is now looking almost exclusively at his at his own party.

"Obviously, the fast pace of world events and the Government that just, quite frankly, can't keep up with that. And a government that is facing what is, frankly, a major economic crisis coming down the tracks, so you put those things together and obviously it's it's a very bleak international domestic and economic picture."
