Joe Biden mistakenly referred to Rishi Sunak as “Mr President” while holding bilateral talks with the British Prime Minister.
The talks had barely got under way as Biden dropped the bizarre gaffe.
The US President was quick to correct himself, calling Sunak “Mr Prime Minister” as the latter chuckled at the mishap.
Biden went on to address the “special relationship” between the UK and the US, saying it is in “real good shape”.
Sunak also addressed the partnership between the two allies, saying he is “confident” about its strength.
He added: “It’s daunting to think of the conversations that our predecessors had in this room when they had to speak of wars that they fought together, peace won together, incredible change in the lives of our citizens.
“And again, for the first time in over half a century, we face a war on the European continent.
“And as we’ve done before, the US and the UK, have stood together to support Ukraine and stand up for the values of democracy and freedom and make sure that they prevail, as I know we will.
“But also I completely agree with what you said, our economies are seeing, perhaps the biggest transformation since the Industrial Revolution, as new technologies provide incredible opportunities, but also give our adversaries more tools for harm.”
It is not Biden’s first gaffe in recent times, with the US President tumbling over on stage during a graduation ceremony in Colorado.
The 80-year-old fell over a sandbag while handing out diplomas for US Air Force Academy graduates.
“I got sandbagged!” he joked to reporters as he landed back at the White House later in the evening.
Joe Biden suffered a blunder during his meeting with the Prime Minister

Biden is the nation’s oldest serving president at 80, and is readying himself to challenge for a second term in the 2024 US Presidential election.
Ex-US President Donald Trump, who is hoping to win the Republican nomination in order to challenge for a second term in 2024, sent his well-wishes to Biden, saying “I hope he wasn’t hurt”.
Despite his positive sentiments, Trump added “the whole thing is crazy” in reference to Biden’s incumbency.
Critics, including Trump himself, have argued Biden is too old to run for a second term as president.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, another 2024 contender for the Republican nomination, also reacted to Biden’s fall, stating: “We hope and wish Joe Biden a swift recovery from any injuries he may have sustained.
“But we also wish the United States of America a swift recovery from the injuries it has sustained because of Joe Biden and his policies.”
Biden had a physical examination in February, where he was deemed “fit for duty” by White House physician Dr Kevin O’Connor.
He said: "The President remains fit for duty, and fully executes all of his responsibilities without any exemptions or accommodations."
