Canadian actress Carrie Anne Fleming, recognised for her performances in the supernatural television series iZombie and Supernatural, has died at the age of 51.

Ms Fleming passed away on February 26 in Sidney, British Columbia, following complications arising from breast cancer.


Her death was confirmed to Variety by Jim Beaver, who portrayed Bobby Singer alongside Ms Fleming's Karen Singer in Supernatural.

The actress built a career spanning several decades across television, film and theatre, becoming a familiar presence in genre productions.

She appeared as Candy Baker throughout all five seasons of The CW's iZombie, which aired from 2015 to 2019, cementing her status within the supernatural drama genre.

After news of her death broke, fans soon flocked to social media to pay tribute.

"R.I.P. Carrie Anne Fleming Gone Too Soon," one X user penned, while a second echoed: "Carrie Anne Fleming gone at 51 is heavy.She had talent and those characters stuck with people. That’s the impact she leaves."

The tributes continued over on Reddit. "RIP to her. F*** Cancer," one Redditor penned, while a second said: "Damn, there’s a beautiful interview with Jim Beaver on Supernatural: Then and Now about her. If I remember correctly, she was the first woman he fell in love with after his wife’s death. I don’t think they worked out, but he adored her."

Meanwhile, a third echoed: "F*** Cancer. Rip to Carrie Ann Fleming. I lost my mom to cancer last month. I hope her family, friends and loved ones find peace and healing in this difficult time."

"Oh, this is gutting. She was fantastic. Rest in peace," another shared.

Ms Fleming was born on August 16, 1974, in Digby, Nova Scotia, and later relocated to Victoria, British Columbia, where she pursued her passion for performance.

She honed her craft through drama studies at the Kaleidoscope Theatre and the Kidco Theatre Dance Company in Victoria, attending Mount Douglas Senior Secondary during her school years.

Following her training, Ms Fleming turned to modelling as a means of supporting her family before transitioning into acting.

Her screen career began with a recurring part in the action series Viper, which launched in 1994, alongside an appearance in Adam Sandler's comedy Happy Gilmore two years later.

These early roles established the foundation for her subsequent work in genre television.

Her breakthrough in horror came in 2005 when director Dario Argento cast her in Masters of Horror, where she portrayed a disfigured character with cannibalistic tendencies in the episode Jenifer.

Ms Fleming subsequently appeared in various horror-themed productions, including The Tooth Fairy and Bloodsuckers.

In Supernatural, she took on the role of Karen Singer, wife to Mr Beaver's Bobby Singer, contributing to the show's extended mythology.

Beyond her genre work, Ms Fleming featured in the 2015 television film The Unauthorized Full House Story, playing the mother of Candace Cameron Bure.

Her additional television credits encompassed Supergirl, UnREAL, Motive, Continuum, The 4400, The L Word, and Smallville, while her film appearances included Good Luck Chuck and Married Life.

Ms Fleming maintained a strong connection to the stage throughout her career, performing in numerous British Columbia theatre productions.

Her theatrical credits included Noises Off, Romeo and Juliet, Steel Magnolias and Fame, demonstrating her versatility beyond screen work.

The actress is survived by her daughter, Madalyn Rose, known as Max, whom she had with former husband Ronald James McConaghy.
