George Galloway says he is determined to bring about a hung Parliament in a challenge to Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour.

The Workers’ Party leader has already made clear his intention to stand candidates everywhere.

Now he has told GB News what he hopes to achieve with those candidates as he bids to send a message to Labour.

“We are determined to stop Sir Keir Starmer forming a majority government”, he told Tom Harwood.

“We seek to bring about a hung parliament in which a negotiated program comes about.

“This would include, for example, the introduction of proportional representation so the British people’s true will will be brought into effect in these elections.

“We have the most peculiar system, you’ll remember Nigel Farage’s party used to get millions of votes but no seats at all, that is fundamentally undemocratic.

“That would be one of our demands should the hung Parliament, which is currently being predicted, comes about.

“If they come to seek our support, they will have to work hard to win it.”

After Galloway won the Rochdale by-election, his party’s headline-grabbing surge showed little sign of dampening after the first ever Workers’ Party councillors were elected to the Rochdale Borough Council.

They displaced Labour, who still maintained overall control of the council.

Speaking in March after his by-election success, Galloway told GB News his party is in a position to “radically alter” the course of the general election.

He faces a battle with Labour ahead in the polls, but Galloway’s stance on the Israel-Gaza conflict has curried favour with some voters.

Galloway shocked Westminster in February when he romped to victory in the by-election.

Labour had stood down its candidate Azhar Ali in the vote as a result of his comments regarding Israel.
