Errol Musk has thrown his support behind Nigel Farage as a potential Prime Minister and hinted his son feels the same way, declaring the Reform UK leader is "what people want".

The 79-year-old said his multi-billionaire son also backs the Reform UK leader despite a fallout between the two political leaders earlier in the year.

Speaking to GB News, the father of billionaire Elon Musk said Farage had transformed from being "a little bit too accommodating" to demonstrating real "mettle".

"He's certainly responded well and pushed himself forward with much more strength. So we look at him in a much better light now," Errol Musk explained.

Speaking on GB News, host Eamonn Holmes said: "Do you know Nigel Farage? Have you met Nigel Farage?"

Errol Musk said: "No, I haven't met him."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Eamonn said: "He is the Prime Minister in waiting. We've done an exclusive poll, and people say we would like him as Prime Minister, but he's sort of changing his policies, he's talking about now spending money for couples to have children.

"He's talking about giving Winter Fuel Allowance, which has been taken away from pensioners, giving that back. Well, what are your observations of Nigel?"

Musk said: "Yeah, well, you know, I did say a few months ago when I was watching the various things going on in the UK that I thought he would make a great cabinet minister and not particularly a great Prime Minister.

"That was actually a little bit of a way of, my son did the same with him, a little way of sort of putting a little bit of fire under him.

"He's certainly responded well and pushed himself forward with much more strength. So we look at him in a much better light now, right? So I'd say yes, he's all right."

Eamonn asked: "Could he be that Prime Minister?"

Errol Musk: "He's showing his mettle. Previously, he was a little bit too accommodating, I would say, and he stopped being accommodating. And that's what people want."

The endorsement comes despite a spectacular falling out between Nigel Farage and Elon Musk earlier this year over the billionaire's support for jailed activist Tommy Robinson. The row erupted just hours after Farage had claimed his friendship with the Tesla founder made his party "cool".

At the height of the dispute, Musk called for Farage to be replaced at the top of Reform UK. The conflict ended speculation that Musk could donate $100million to Reform, which would have been the largest political donation in British history.

Instead, Musk backed now-independent MP Rupert Lowe, suggesting he could take over the party. Farage has consistently opposed allowing Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, to join his political parties, describing him as "thuggish".

Speaking on BBC's Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg, Farage revealed he had since met with Elon Musk to discuss their previous disagreement.

"We talked about it," Farage said, explaining that Musk "was just trying to encourage me in a few policy areas, ones I wasn't prepared to go down".

Farage acknowledged that Musk would "say what he wants to say at any moment in time" but suggested their relationship had moved beyond the earlier conflict.
