Donald Trump today slammed Sadiq Khan as “vicious and disgusting”.
In a dammnig verdict of Europe’s handling of the migrant crisis, the US president claimed the London mayor was only elected “because so many migrants have come in”.
In his sweeping criticisms of European leaders' inability to secure their borders, Mr Trump said: “I mean, look at… your mayor of London. He’s a disaster.
“He’s got a totally different ideology of what he’s supposed to have,.

“And he gets elected because so many people have come in.
“He’s a horrible mayor. He’s an incompetent mayor, but he’s a horrible, vicious, disgusting mayor. I think he’s done a terrible job. London’s a different place."
Responding to Mr Trump’s comments, Sir Sadiq said: “I think the one part that President Trump has got right is that London is becoming a different place. We are the greatest city in the world.
“I suspect that’s one of the reasons why we have record numbers of Americans coming here to holiday, coming here to live, coming here to invest, or coming here to study.

“I literally have no idea why President Trump is so obsessed with this mayor of London. I’m not sure what he’s got against a liberal, progressive, diverse, successful city like London," Sir Sadiq said.
The US President’s volcanic comments were delivered amid a dressing down of European leaders for presiding over unprecedented demographic change across the continent.
He said Europe was concerned with being “politically correct” and should “get the people out that came into the country illegally”.
“I think they’re weak, but I also think that they want to be so politically correct… I think they don’t know what to do,” he told Politico podcast The Conversation.

In the Trump administration’s 33-page National Security Strategy, it asserted Europe would be "unrecognisable in 20 years or less", and its economic issues were "eclipsed by the real and more stark prospect of civilisational erasure".
President Trump also shared his ire over Europe’s role in the currently stalled US-brokered negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.
He said some leaders on the continent were his “friends” but “Europe is not doing a good job in many ways”.
“Some are OK. I know the good leaders. I know the bad leaders. I know the smart ones. I know the stupid ones… but they’re not doing a good job. Europe is not doing a good job in many ways… And they’re not producing.
“We’re talking about Ukraine. They talk but they don’t produce. And the war just keeps going on and on. I mean, four years now it’s been going on, long before I got here,” he said.
In his remarks, President Trump piled further pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to accept the American proposal to hand over land to Russia and argued Moscow retained the “upper hand”.
However, the Ukrainian leader on Monday reiterated his opposition to ceding any territory, resisting US pressure for a compromise with Russia as he continues to rally European support for Kyiv.
Reacting to the US leaders' comments that Europe was not "producing anything" regarding Ukraine, a spokesman for No10 said they rejected the language.

“Well I would reject that in terms of, you’ve seen the number of countries involved in the coalition of the willing discussions, you’ve also seen the work the UK has done in terms of leading the response on sanctions, including against the shadow fleet, but we strongly support the US peace process," they said.
“I think as I’ve set out, the US is our closest partner on trade and security. You’ve seen the strengths of that relationship and the positive outcomes that has had for the British people," the spokesman added.
