'And just to top it off, today Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said what we all know - the Home Office is not fit for purpose'

Labour’s promises of tackling illegal immigration officially died today.

Today, reports suggest that France is backing away from stopping boats in the water as promised. That charade is over.

Yesterday, it was confirmed that more illegals have crossed the Channel so far this year than the entirety of last year - we’ve had about 37,000.

Now we can reveal that deportations of small boat migrants are down 7.4 per cent under Sir Keir Starmer.

Under this Labour Government everyone who enters Britain illegally is allowed to claim asylum, and fewer small boat migrants are being deported.

Remember the one in, one out deal? Yesterday it emerged an Iranian man sent back to France under that scheme has returned to Britain on a small boat.

He says he didn’t feel safe in France and claims to be a victim of modern slavery.

If we cannot deport that man now, the entire loads in, one out deal is dead. It’s finished. It’s over.

And just to top it off, today Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said what we all know - the Home Office is not fit for purpose.

That came after a damning report revealed that instead of deporting people, Home Office staff host ‘listening circles’ where they talk about their feelings about social and political issues.

Who gives a toss? It is literally like a scene out of the sitcom The Thick of It.

So, France isn’t going to stop the boats, record numbers have crossed the Channel, Starmer’s deporting fewer Channel migrants, one of the few he has deported has now come back and is claiming asylum and Home Office staff are all sitting around cross-legged on the floor talking about their internalised trauma.

Fantastic.
