OPINION: The bombing of Iran showed Donald Trump’s courage and strength

Love him or loathe him, Donald Trump is fast becoming the bravest, boldest and one of the most effective leaders of our time.

He’s just done something every other world leader was too scared to do- he’s rid the world of Iran’s nuclear weaponry by taking out three major nuclear sites.

This makes him the first leader of a democratic country to confront and deal with Middle East tyrants. While the rest of the world continues to try and placate and appease the Middle East bullies who pose a danger to us all, Trump just says “sod that" and takes them out.

And that's what he did with Iran - an action that may save the world. And it’s not just me saying this, it's Nato boss, Mark Rutte, who in a series of texts praised Trump to the high Heavens, telling him he’d just made the world a safer place.

Many have been quick to jump on Rutte, calling his texts to Trump fawning, but the fact is, he’s just telling it like it is. Trump has just made the world a safer place.

He’s a conviction politician who, if he says he’s going to do something, he does it. Rutte’s private texts to Trump, which he obviously made public – I say obviously because it is still The Donald we’re dealing with - said: “Dear Donald Congratulations and thank you for your decisive action in Iran. That was something truly extraordinary and something no one else dared to do. It makes us all safer.”

And he didn’t stop there. He also lavished praise on the President for pushing other Nato allies to increase their military spending to five per cent, telling Trump: “Europe is going to pay in a big way, as they should. And it will be YOUR win.”

Rutte also made clear that Trump had achieved what no American president in decades could have done.

And yes, his praise may have been fulsome and a bit over the top, but isn’t what Rutte has done better than what this idiot, short-sighted government has done in insulting and alienating Trump?

Our hopeless PM and our thick -as -mince foreign secretary have done that by dismissing him as a madman and treating him like a fool.

Remember Lammy, before Trump was elected, called him a tyrant, a xenophobe and a woman hating Neo Nazi sympathizer? Shows how good his political instincts are!

And because of his stupidity and his gobbiness, Lammy has spent his time since being appointed Foreign Secretary grovelling and sucking up to a president who, whatever he says, won’t ever forgive or forget.

Both Starmer and Lammy have continually put us on the wrong side of Trump with their weakness, their naivety and their embarrassing lack of political nous. Well, the “madman” is fast garnering the admiration of the world for his courage in doing what others dare not.

There were those in the media this week claiming he’d lost the plot after his four-letter outburst over Iran and Israel breaking the ceasefire.

Trump had raged: “We have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f.. k they’re doing.”

And he’s dead right and had every right to be outraged. He’d just helped broker a peace deal for God’s sake, and he’d risked the lives of American pilots who’d swooped in to destroy Iran’s nuclear capability, and his thanks for that is that both countries continued to lob bombs at each other.

It would make anyone fume. Yes, Trump can be unpredictable, but it doesn’t make him a madman. Foreign tyrants – especially the ones who want to destroy the West – never quite know what they’re going to do.

They know what the rest of the West does – it appeases and wrings its hands, and the tyrants see that for exactly what it is – weakness. But they can never accuse Trump of being weak.

He is strong, and time and again, since his re-election, he has proved that strength works. More importantly, when it's used properly, it can achieve way more than negotiation, compromise and appeasement.

While here in the UK, Starmer was calling for restraint and a stop to hostilities, Trump’s planes were on their way to Iran.

Can you ever imagine Starmer ever making that call? Trump is the perfect example of a strong leader, while Starmer is the perfect example of a gutless, weak one. And Rutte’s praise this week was the realisation of Trump’s strength.

And it's time the European elites recognised it too! They need to open their blinkered eyes and see that The Donald is succeeding where they keep failing. The bombing of Iran showed Trump’s courage and strength.

And while he might not have destroyed the regime, he has humiliated it. And let’s not forget it was Trump who ripped up Barack Obama’s dangerous Iran deal and killed terror chief Qasem Soleimani.

It was Trump who declared Communist China’s destruction of the Uyghurs was genocide. It was Trump who convinced India and Pakistan to back down from their recent stand-off.

Yes, Trump is desperate to be seen as the world’s Peacemaker, but the fact is he’s fast gaining the reputation of being exactly that.

Who knows whether this fragile ceasefire will hold, but at least Trump has done, and is still doing, everything he can to make sure it does.

Starmer and his European cronies are still just talking and achieving the sum total of beggar all. And you can bet your sweet life that dummies like Lammy and Starmer still in their heart of hearts think Trump is a madman who’s out of control and can’t for a second recognise his strength or his genius. But he might just be the madman who has saved their sorry arses - and ours!
