Authorities were alerted to the man in trouble just after midday on Thursday.
After emergency services arrived at the scene, eyewitnesses told them the man had fallen off his bike.
However, it later emerged that the tragedy was most likely connected to a health problem he had experienced as he was cycling around the popular holiday destination.
