A Mexican mayor who was a firebrand against cartel crime was shot dead in front of his family during a Day of the Dead celebration.
Carlos Manzo, mayor of the city of Uruapan, previously called on his country's government to do more to protect him and other outspoken officials.
On Saturday, footage of Mr Manzo's brutal assassination was released. Video showed a celebrating crowd holding candles outside a church in Uruapan when shots rang out.
Mr Manzo was then seen lying on the street bleeding after gunfire was heard.

Mr Manzo was elected as mayor of Uruapan in September 2024 as an independent candidate - after defecting from Ms Sheinbaum's party.
Since taking office, the 40-year-old had often been seen wearing a bulletproof vest in public and has repeatedly expressed fears for his life due to his staunch anti-cartel stance.
Uruapan is the second largest city in the Mexican state of Michoacan - one of the bloodiest areas in the country for cartel violence as rival groups battle for control of lucrative drug trafficking routes.
In September, Mr Manzo told a Mexican outlet: "I don't want to be just another mayor on the list of those executed, those whose lives have been taken from them.

"How many mayors haven't they killed because they opposed making these pacts with organized crime?"
The assassinated mayor frequently called on Mexico's Secretary of Security, Omar Harfuch, to provide greater protection to those holding public office in the Latin American country.
In a press conference on Sunday, Mr Harfuch said that Mr Manzo had been receiving state protection, including 14 National Guard troops to carry out security checks.
He added: "The aggressors took advantage of the vulnerability of a public event.
"Be certain that there will be no impunity."
Senior officials within the Trump administration have condemned Mr Manzo's killing.
Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau said: "The US stands ready to deepen security cooperation with Mexico to wipe out organised crime on both sides of the border."
The Uruapan mayor's death is the second political assassination in Mexico in recent weeks after the mayor of Pisaflores, Miguel Bahena Solorzano, was shot dead by gunmen on October 20.
