The protestor accused the Jewish community of 'politicising' the massacre

Fury has erupted after a pro-Palestine activist disrupted a vigil for the Bondi Beach attack victims before being ejected by police.

As she was being led away from the memorial event, she demanded Israeli flags be removed and accused the Jewish community of politicising the tragedy.

The crowd could be heard chanting “get her out” at the activist, who was seen draped in a Palestinian keffiyeh

The woman claimed she was Jewish and said she believed this gave her the right to protest the vigil for the attack, which left 16 people dead.

She told reporters: "I came here today because I'm a Jewish person.

"My family was murdered in the Holocaust...This community has politicised this tragedy."

The protestor is believed to be a member of the Sydney-based Palestine Action Group, an organisation which claims to be engaged in "supporting freedom and justice in Palestine, and building the pro-Palestine solidarity movement".

Australia's Governor-General Sam Mostyn blasted the activist's behaviour as "incredibly disrespectful".

She added: "It was a disgrace and I know the community here reacted how they should."

One member of the crowd told the Daily Mail: "This was meant to be a quiet moment of reflection, people were grieving, and suddenly it just descended into chaos."

The activist escorted out of the event is believed to be in her 60s.

Loud cheers were heard from the mourners as she was being ejected from the event.

Rabbi Mendel Kastel, who attended the Hanukkah by the Sea event, addressed the vigil and said the Jewish community had been left in shock in the aftermath of the massacre.

Mr Kastel said: "We've seen antisemitism, we've seen people get hit, we've seen people get punched, people knocked over but this is a whole other level.

"I don't know what's happened to our country and we need to take it back.

"'I think it's time that people actually step up and say, 'You know what, we need to step forward and say we are with the Jewish community, we care about you, we're here to support you.

"We're not just looking after ourselves, we are part of the fabric of this country, we contribute to this country, we participate in this country and therefore it's important that people step up and make sure that we feel safe."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu launched a scathing attack on Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, accusing him of pouring “fuel on the anti-Semitic fire” by recognising a Palestinian state.

He added: “You let the disease spread and the result is the horrific attacks on Jews we saw today."

Israeli authorities have suggested the attack may have been carried out by an Iranian-backed terror cell.
