'Woke left' slammed by campaigners for 'selling our rights and dignity to Islamic communities'

"That's the left. The left has abandoned women. And this is so serious," Ms Diana warned.

"Can you believe that? In the past, only polls to Islamic people were run, and we were only asking them if they wanted Sharia law in the UK," Ms Diana said.

"To me, this shows that woke political correctness is really shaping our policy to the state of suicidal empathy."

She added: "So we are going to give up our sovereignty because we are not even able to ask the people what they want."

Although the councils are not formal courts, the religious bodies can issue advice and rulings based on Islamic law, relating to matters of monogamy, divorce and inheritance.

The new poll shows that 84 per cent do not want Sharia law to replace UK law, while 58 per cent do not want Sharia courts.

"Yet we have them, and 66 per cent of British people understand very clearly that Sharia law doesn't respect women's rights. This is a serious issue for this country.

"Our policymakers should understand that this is the time to act," the campaigner declared.

She added that the Islamic institutions allow "making some men the leaders of the Sharia courts instead of others".

"So any extremist could have the position of leadership within these councils, and the results could be disastrous, of course, for women who are born into Islamic culture."

However, she added that it was also dangerous for women "who are converting because of their spouse".

The campaigner issued the warning the same day that it was revealed the Manchester synagogue attacker had three wives - two of whom were converts - in the UK.

Despite polygamy being illegal in the UK, "some men think they can have four wives", Ms Diana warned, "as they can base it on Sharia law".

"They have abandoned women and truth together," she raged, as she took aim at the "woke left" when asked about the treatment of Sharia law in the media and across the political establishment.

"That's why they are selling our rights and our dignity to Islamic communities, because they know they got their votes there."

She explained that the same principle extends to those belonging to the radical left, with "the woke" believing that biological men dressed as women "can become women".

"The left abandons the truth that in reality, no one can change sex and no one can become a woman. This is very sad," she declared.

"And this Labour Government holds a huge responsibility."
