The Department for Homeland Security said the shooter was naturalised under Joe Biden's administration

A British man has been arrested for a suspected triple murder in the US following a shooting spree across DeKalb County, Georgia.

Olaolukitan Adon Abel, 26, was charged with two counts of malice murder in Georgia - a state-specific charge which equates to the charge of first-degree murder in other states.

The man, born in the UK and later becoming a naturalised US citizen, has also been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in Brookhaven.

Department for Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, in a statement, alleged: "Yesterday, a DHS employee, Lauren Bullis, was brutally shot and stabbed to death by Olaolukitan Adon Abel, a 26-year-old, born in the United Kingdom, who was naturalised by the Biden Administration in 2022.

"Since President Trump took office, USCIS has implemented measures to ensure individuals with criminal histories and who otherwise lack good moral character do not attain citizenship.

"He possesses a prior criminal record that includes convictions for sexual battery, battery against a police officer, obstruction, and assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism and now stands accused of murdering DHS employee Lauren Bullis by shooting and stabbing her while she walked her dog.

"He has also been arrested for the murder of an unidentified woman whom he reportedly shot outside a Checkers, before randomly shooting a homeless man multiple times outside a Kroger in Brookhaven.

"These acts of pure evil have devastated our Department and my prayers are with the families of the victims."

Police suspect he is accountable for at least three separate gun rampages on Monday morning which left two women dead.

At the first shooting, police officers discovered a woman who sustained several gunshot wounds after 12.52am along Wesley Chapel Road, DeKalb County Police Department confirmed.

The woman, who has not yet been identified, succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

In the second shooting, police said a 49-year-old homeless man was sleeping outside Cherokee Plaza at around 2am when the assailant drove up and shot at the man.

Emergency services responded to calls immediately and descended on the scene where the victim had received several gunshot wounds. He remains in a critical condition.

Brookhaven Police Chief Brandon Gurley said: "Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family as he fights to recover from this incident that occurred."

Police said the shooting was random and the homeless man and Abel were not linked.

The third and final shooting took place on Battle Forest Drive at 6.50am with a 40-year-old woman receiving gunshot and stab wounds.

Lauren Bullis died from her injuries in hospital.

Locals told US outlet Fox 5 that multiple gunshots were heard between 6.30am and 7am that morning and another neighbour claimed to have seen the woman on the ground as a man fled the scene.

Abel was arrested by the Georgia Department of Public Safety during a felony traffic stop in Troup County.

So far, police have not confirmed a motive for the attacks. However, authorities continue to work to understand why the shootings took place.

It is not yet known whether the arrested man is connected to the victims.

Chatham County court records say the same 26-year-old was arrested in April for allegedly sexually assaulting four women.
