Family of woman who drove into Ice officer break silence on rumours of her 'criminal past'

"We've seen the false claims and the wrong Renee Good's info being posted (criminal history? She didn't have one)," Ms Fletcher wrote.

Public records reveal her sole brush with the law was a failure to have her vehicle inspected.

Some had suggested the 37-year-old was a child abuser who had lost custody of her children - claims the family firmly rejects.

Ms Fletcher, connected to Good through her late ex-husband Timmy Macklin Jr, said the family had waited to release a coordinated response.

"Regardless of what happened, she was our family. [My husband] Cole and my sister-in-law. And our nephew is now an orphan.

"No matter where you stand on the issue of Ice or whether or not you think she did or didn't deserve what happened, please remember she was a human being and she had loved ones including children who can and will likely see all of these things about their mother and her wife, whom she loved dearly," Ms Fletcher wrote.

"Please remember to be kind" she implored, adding that Christians in particular should examine their responses to the tragedy.

The family released a formal statement describing Ms Good as a person "full of heart and never defined by malice".

"Thank you to everyone who has shown up, spoken out, and held space for the family during this incredibly difficult time," the statement read.

The relatives said they believe that the mother-of-three would have supported those rallying in her memory.

"We know Renee would be there too, cheering on those who fight for justice and standing with the people, causes, and community she loved," the family said.

They added: "We hope this inspires accountability, compassion, and meaningful change so that fewer families have to endure this kind of pain."

Friends have indicated Ms Good became involved in activism through her six-year-old son's charter school and its local "Ice Watch" group.

She was fatally shot by Ice agent Jonathan Ross after she refused orders to exit her vehicle, reversed, and appeared to drive towards him during a protest against immigration enforcement.

Ms Good's wife Rebecca had left the vehicle roughly 20 seconds after they arrived and was filming the confrontation.

In distressing footage from the aftermath, Rebecca was heard saying: "I made her come down here, it's my fault."

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem labelled the incident "an act of domestic terrorism" almost immediately after the shooting occurred.

President Donald Trump described Ms Good as a "professional agitator" who was "very violent" and "very radical," adding she was shot in self-defence.
