Three police officers have died, while two have been left in a critical condition after a shooting in southern Pennsylvania.
The suspected gunman is said to have been shot dead by law enforcement after officers came under fire while serving an arrest warrant in York County,.
A number of police officers were seen being taken away from the scene in a Medevac helicopter.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro quickly arrived at the scene of the shooting after schools in the local area were ordered to be locked down temporarily.
In a press conference at York Hospital, Mr Shapiro said: “We grieve for the loss of life for three precious souls who served this county, served this commonwealth and served this country, and we continue to pray for the full recovery of those who are dealing with their wounds."
US Attorney General Pam Bondi condemned the violence against the officers, writing on social media: "Violence against law enforcement is a scourge on our society and never acceptable. Pray for the officers involved."
A spokesman for York Police later confirmed there was "no current active threat" to the rural community.
The spokesman said: “Our hearts and prayers go out to them, to the families of the deceased and the families of those officers who were wounded.

“There are simply no words that I can offer to assuage the grief that this community has experienced and unfortunately, will continue to experience.
“The grief will be unbearable, but we will bear it.”
During the press conference, the Democrat Governor called for greater mental health support to tackle America's gun crime issue.
Mr Shapiro called on Pennsylvanians to "do better" to support each other and urged them to resolve conflicts without resorting to weapons.

US Attorney General Pam Bondi condemned the violence against the officers
| REUTERSHe said: “We need to help the people picking up a weapon is the answer to resolving disputes.
“[We need to] do better when it comes to mental health.
"We need to do better when it comes to looking out for those who are [so] we don’t have to deal with tragedies like this. We got to do better as a society."
The police spokesman said the officers were responding a “domestic-related” incident when the gunman attacked.
FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that agents were on the ground to assist local and state authorities, alongside a "very large" forensics team collecting evidence.
Mr Shapiro thanked the Trump administration and Ms Bondi for their support following the tragic incident.
He said: “I want to let you know that Attorney General Pam Bondi reached out directly to me and shared with me that we have the full support of the federal government.
“We so appreciate law enforcement at every level, and we, of course, appreciate our federal partners.”
