Multiple people have died after a plane crashed and went up in flames at an airport in North Carolina.
The aircraft went up in flames following the crash at Statesville Regional Airport in Iredell County at about 10.15am local time.
It has resulted in the deaths of multiple people, according to local media citing police sources.
The airport said in a statement: "We can confirm there has been an aircraft incident at the Statesville Regional Airport.

Statesville Regional Airport is owned by the city and provides services for top US companies and several NASCAR racing teams, according to its website.
An online flight tracking tool shows a Cessna 550 plane took off from the airport at 10.06am, though it is not currently if this was the aircraft involved in the crash.
The plane is owned by a private company in North Carolina which is affiliated with ex-NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, local media reports.
