The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) has been ongoing this week

A supporter of the potential Republican nominee Donald Trump has said that "immigration and foreign aid" are the key issues that need to be tackled in the next election.

This comes as the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) has been ongoing this week.

Many of the speakers attending CPAC are Trump’s most high-profile allies, some of whom are vying to join him on the ticket in November.

Speaking to GBN America one of his supporters Blake Marnell who was dressed in a suit that had bricks all over it said: "This suit symbolises my support for President Trump's border wall and strong borders, which I believe every country should have."

He added: "Beyond immigration, far and away #1, the second one. I think it really is the amount of the amount of financial assistance our country is giving right now to other countries I think is excessive.

"I'm an American first type of conservative. I think that the primary job of any government is to take care of their own citizens first and then assist their allies and their neighbors.

"I think that in the United States there needs to be a bit more balance on that. We need to do more within our own house before we extend a helping hand outside. So that would be number two.

"Then three, I would like to, I would like to see more transparency in elections in the United States. Every state has the ability to run elections so that the federal government can't pass all-encompassing laws.

"I would like to see the Republican Party try and steer the States back to an environment where voting is basically on Election Day, conducted in person as much as possible on paper ballots.

"Move away from our current system of just mailing ballots in or dropping them in unattended boxes where nobody really knows what's happening to them."

The conference comes amid other signs that Trump is tightening his grip on the party.

He moved to reshuffle the top brass at the Republican National Committee (RNC), and his influence on Capitol Hill helped scuttle a bipartisan border security deal.

Trump is speaking at the event tomorrow, and GB News host Nigel Farage is set to be making a speech at the Washington venue today.

Other speakers included former Prime Minister of the UK Liz Truss who claimed: "Unless conservatives become more active in speaking out... Western civilisation is doomed."

She added: "We have to understand how deep the vested interests of the establishment are, how hard they will fight, and how unfairly they will fight to get their way.

"And that is what I learned from my time as a government minister and my time in No 10. The West has been run by the Left for too long and it's been a complete disaster."
