Valance has a home in Los Angeles

Neighbours star Holly Valance is concerned about crime in Los Angeles, lamenting it as “debauched”.

She appeared on GB News’ brand new Chopper’s Political Podcast to discuss an array of issues including the state of play in America.

Valance has a home in Los Angeles, but feels the place is unrecognisable compared to what she once knew.

“We still go back and I’m pretty nervous walking around now”, she said.

“I took the girls to get an ice cream on Third Promenade on Santa Monica which is a gorgeous walking promenade with ice cream shops and sneaker shops.

“That was our thing to do on weekends. We got there last time and all the shops were boarded up.

“Graffiti everywhere, meth heads everywhere and dudes walking around with knives.

“It’s devastating. It was absolutely gorgeous. It was Disneyland for adults when I first moved there.”

Asked who she “blames” for the area’s struggles, she didn’t delve into specific names but suggested “debauchery” is being “encouraged”.

“When you’re walking around giving out meth kits and needles and making open air places to do things, you’re encouraging debauchery”, she said.

Officials said in January that violent crime dipped in Los Angeles more than three per cent in 2023, despite a perception that the nation’s second-largest city is unsafe.

“Our commitment is to address that perception”, LAPD Chief Michel Moore said during a news conference shortly after the stats reveal.

There was a nearly 17 per cent dip in homicides in 2023.

Valance said she would not “hide” in the US if Keir Starmer’s Labour Party were to win the general election, despite her criticisms.

Instead, she remains “patriotic” to Britain with members of her family being British.

“The plan would be to stay and live where we love, which is here”, she said.

“I’m very patriotic to this place. My mother is from Southampton. My whole family is English.

“I don’t want to go anywhere. And Nick [Candy, her husband], doesn’t want to go anywhere.

“We prefer to be in our country.”
