Her lawyer called the meeting 'a very productive day'

Ghislaine Maxwell has met with US Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in what her lawyer has called "a very productive day".

Maxwell, a long-time associate of disgraced paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, is serving a 20-year sentence at a federal prison in Tallahassee, Florida, after a jury convicted her of sex trafficking in 2021.

Earlier this week, Blanche announced he had reached out to Maxwell's lawyers to see if she might have "information about anyone who has committed crimes against victims".

About the meeting, David Oscar Markus, Maxwell's attorney, said: "We have a very productive day today with the Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche and Ghislaine Maxwell."

Markus told reporters that Maxwell, who is appealing her sentence, answered each of Blanche's questions, although he added: "We don't want to comment about the substance of the meeting for obvious reasons."

This comes as pressure mounts on Donald Trump and his administration to release the files, something he promised to do during his campaign last year.

Attorney General Pam Bondi promised earlier this year to release additional documents relating to possible clients of Epstein, who is said to have killed himself in 2019 in a jail cell while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges.

However, Bondi reversed course this month, and the Department of Justice (DoJ) issued a memo concluding there was no basis to continue investigating, adding there was no evidence of a client list.

Since that decision, the DoJ has sought permission to unseal grand jury transcripts from prior investigations into Epstein and Maxwell.

On Wednesday, however, one of these requests was denied by US District Judge Robin Rosenberg, as it was found it did not fall into any of the exceptions to rules requiring grand jury material be kept secret.

Trump's name appeared multiple times on flight logs for Epstein's private plane in the 1990s, as did many other famous names, and earlier this year the US President was told he was named numerous times in the infamous Epstein files, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Trump is said to have been informed of this by Bondi and Blanche during a White House meeting, the same day he was recommended against releasing the documents.

However, named individuals in the files have not necessarily done anything wrong.

Trump has hit back at the allegations, and White House communications director Steven Cheung called the Wall Street Journal's report "fake news".

He said: "The fact is that the President kicked him out of his club for being a creep."

"This is nothing more than a continuation of the fake news stories concocted by the Democrats and the liberal media, just like the Obama Russiangate scandal, which President Trump was right about."

Earlier this week, Congress announced plans to subpoena Maxwell to testify before American lawmakers - which would be broadcast to the public.

Tim Burchett, the Tennessee Republican who introduced the motion to subpoena her, said on social media: "We got to send a message to these dirt bags."

He was referring to the list of clients and other Epstein enablers who are assumed to be included in the remaining Epstein files.

He continued: "We've just got to get to the bottom of this thing, folks. It's four years and we don't need to tolerate this stuff any more."
