US journalist Batya Ungar-Sargon has praised Donald Trump, saying the US presidential candidate is ‘returning dignity’ to the working classes.
The former president is battling for a second term after romping to victory in most Republican primaries and caucuses across America.
One thing in his favour when going up against Joe Biden could be his popularity amongst the working class, Ungar-Sargon told GBN America.
She said to Nana Akua: “Donald Trump has come to represent the working class who have really been abandoned by both sides of the American political spectrum.

“He showed up and basically took an axe to the handshake agreement the Democrats and Republicans that had existed for the last 40 years in which it was okay to abandon the working class and cater to the rich.
“He now has a lock on the working class. He’s getting black working class voters.

“In 2020, black men were polling at eight per cent for Donald Trump, they showed up at 18 per cent.
“He’s not polling 20 to 30 per cent of black men. You can imagine how he’s going to do.
“The majority of Hispanics are now on the Trump train. The racial divide in America is not based on right versus left. It’s based on class, the college credentialed elites versus the working class.
“Donald Trump just represents the return of the dignity of working class Americans and that’s why the elites are trying to put him in prison.”

REUTERSTrump’s opponent in November is set to be incumbent president Joe Biden, who has sought the favourability of the working class by emboldening unions.
Liberal think tank the Center for American Progress branded him the ‘most pro-union president in history’.
He has also won the endorsement of some of the country’s most significant unions, including the United Auto Workers, the AFSCME public employees’ union and the Service Employees International Union.
But Bayta-Sargon argues this has done little to encourage support among the working classes, who are instead flocking to Trump.
Nana Akua accused the elite of weaponising the legal system against Trump as he faces a litany of cases.
“It’s so obvious”, she said.
“Let’s hope that there’s not some funny business when it comes to the election.
“We’re seeing now the manipulation of the legal system against him.”
