Data from the White House in July showed attacks against Ice officials had surged by 700 per cent

The gunman involved in the shooting at an Ice facility in Texas has been named - while Donald Trump has placed the blame on "radical left Democrats".

Joshua Jahn was named by US media as the shooter who killed at least one migrant before turning the gun on himself at an immigration and customs enforcement (Ice) facility in Dallas on Wednesday.

Despite his family saying he had little interest in politics, and the gunman's motive remaining unknown, one of the bullet casings found next to the 29-year-old's body had "anti-Ice" written on it.

The President condemned the attack as "despicable", blasting: "The brave men and women of Ice are just trying to do their jobs and remove the 'worst of the worst' criminals out of country, but they are facing an unprecedented increase in threats, violence, and attacks by deranged radical leftists."

Jahn opened fire at around 6.40am on Wednesday from his position atop an office which was adjacent to the Ice facility.

Authorities confirmed that no law enforcement officers were injured in the attack, however three detainees were shot.

Jahn had previously pleaded guilty to dealing marijuana in 2016.

It is understood that he was given 100 hours of community service and fined $500 (£371).

Mr Trump also blamed the "radical left Democrats" for "demonising law enforcement" and "comparing Ice officers to 'Nazis'".

Vice President JD Vance blamed the Democrats' criticism of Ice for the shooting.

He told reporters: "When Democratic politicians... encourage us to unmask Ice enforcement officers, what do you think is going to happen?

"What's going to happen is political violence, and political violence has gotten out of control in this country."

According to data released by the White House in July, Ice agents were facing a 700 per cent increase in attacks, which again was blamed on Democrats.

Some of the incidents referred to by the Trump administration included Governor Tim Walz comparing Ice agents to the "modern-day Gestapo" and Representative Pramila Jayapal who said it was "inspiring" to obstruct immigration enforcement.

It is believed the US Government has now instructed security around Ice facilities to be increased.

Mr Trump also warned of "radical left terrorism" ater the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The 31-year-old died after he was shot during a rally at Utah Valley University on September 10.

During Mr Kirk's memorial in Arizona, the President hailed him as a "great American hero" and "martyr".

In a bid to crack down on the "radical left", the President signed an order designating Antifa as terrorists.

Short for "anti-fascists", Antifa is not one set group, but rather an umbrella term for various hard-left activist groups.
