Brandon Straka revealed to GBN America his reason for walking away from the Democrats and becoming a Republican as he blamed it on the "media."
Straka is the founder of the conservative '#WalkAway' campaign and became a conservative media influencer.
Straka created the #WalkAway social media campaign before the 2018 midterm elections as an educational tool to encourage Democrats to leave their party.
A former Democrat, Straka said he voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election and was shattered when Trump won.

Speaking to GBN America at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Starka told GBN America: "I voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 after voting for Barack Obama twice in a lifetime of voting for Democrats.
"And when Trump got elected, it was like an earthquake, everything became disrupted. I was personally disrupted.
"I mean, angry, confused, outraged, scared. And so I went on a journey of research to try to understand how it happened.
"Why would anyone vote for this man? And so I started asking all these questions and researching and going back and watching all these media clips in these moments in proper context.
Donald Trump will be speaking at CPAC tomorrow
ReutersI started to realise after months of research that Donald Trump was not my enemy, but the media that I've been trusting my entire life was my enemy.
"Essentially I've been brainwashed and manipulated by propaganda, anti-Trump propaganda.
"Two things were happening at the same time. I was starting to gain a better understanding of Trump and starting to like him better as a politician, as a president, while also realising that I couldn't trust the media sources I'd been trusting my entire life.
"It was that betrayal that was like the ultimate catalyst to me walking away. "

He also explained: "CPAC kind of means a lot to me because in my former Democrat liberal days, I used to think that this was a convention for Nazis and racists and white supremacists.
"Now actually these are kind of my people, what's really cool is I went from hating the CPAC crowd to being welcomed by it.
"I'm speaking and I've been speaking at CPAC for years now. So it's always kind of this very kind of nostalgic and sentimental experience for me to come here.
"It shows me where I started, where I've been, and where I am now."
