Ulez cameras have been obstructed by Londoners who parked vans in front of the devices.

The cameras are used to detect when drivers enter the Ulez zone, spotting non-compliant vehicles and charging them a £12.50 daily fee.

However, in Bexleyheath, two drivers parked their vans in front of the cameras, in an attempt to stop the devices catching non-compliant vehicles driving into the city.

Captured on video, one of the vans, a black Mercedes, had a sign reading “Ulez cam”, altering fellow motorists to the camera.

The other van, a white IVECO vehicle, parked in front of TfL’s enforcement vehicle.

Social media users reacted to the video, with many celebrating the efforts of the anti-Ulez drivers.

Two people wrote that Sadiq Khan was “fighting a loosing battle”.

Another added: “Love this! Power to the people!!!”

A spokesperson for TfL said: “We have an extensive camera network which is sufficient to support the effective operation of the scheme. We have deployed some mobile units as part of the mix of cameras, and have done so for many years across the different schemes we operate.

“We are aware of attempts to block our mobile camera units. This incident was reported to the police which resulted in the vehicles being moved on. Such incidents will not stop the Ulez operating London-wide.”

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

In and around London, disgruntled residents are taking action against Sadiq Khan’s controversial scheme.

In Cudham, a village in Greater London, vandals are destroying the cameras.

It has been claimed that the devices “don’t even last a day”.

A garage owner in Cudham supported vigilante’s efforts to disable the cameras, stating: “I think if you can’t get any satisfaction based on trying to talk to someone, how are you going to get any action done? Political leaders don’t listen to you. You have to drop them a hint.”

Earlier this month GB News spoke to a ‘Blade Runner’ Ulez vigilante who has been sabotaging the cameras.

Lee – not his real name – estimates that he has disabled more than 60 cameras himself.

Justifying his controversial actions, Lee exclusively told GB News: “It is a war on working-class people, the poorest people, the ones who can't afford a compliant car. It's a tax on the poor.”
