The pair argued over allowing minors to access 'gender-affirming' treatment

Ben Leo was engulfed in a vicious row with the founder of an online transgender clinic over prescribing puberty blockers to children, as a GB News guest launched a personal attack on the presenter.

GenderGP's Dr Helen Webberley defended the controversial use of hormonal drugs for minors in several US states, including California and New York.

After Ben asked Dr Webberley if she was "profiteering off the back of vulnerable children", Dr Webberley replied: "Transgender children or children who are questioning their gender are not automatically vulnerable.

"But this kind of conversation makes them extremely vulnerable. Transgender people are not suffering from a mental illness."

"Do you know one day you have one day you will have a transgender person in your life, and you'll look back on this conversation?"

But Ben hit back: "I don't think I will. Especially not a child, because I'll tell my child, as I told Zach, my two-year-old. He's a sweetheart. I'll say 'I love you, my boy. But today, you're not Batman. You're not Spider-Man. You're not a girl today.' And we've moved on. He's not mentioned it since."

"He's two!" Dr Webberley indignantly responded.

Earlier in the conversation, when they were discussing Ben's son, Dr Webberly said: "Can't we just let children explore? Two is amazing age to explore. Why aren't we letting our children explore? I actually feel sorry for him right now."

"Exactly. He's two years' old. Leave the children alone. Let them be innocent," Ben pleaded.

"One day, you will have a transgender person in your life. And you will look back on this and you will regret your words," Dr Webberley said.

The two went on to discuss the difference between children and adults believing they are transgender, with Ben arguing he was a libertarian on the matter.

"Let trans people do what they want but my issue comes with the children.

Dr Helen Webberly insisted Ben was being 'disrespectful'

However, Dr Webberly claimed Ben was being "disrespectful", asking: "When do you think transgender adults become transgender? Do you think it happens at 18?

"Or do you think it actually is their identity from within them, from whenever they were conceived before?"

Delivering a furious tirade, Ben fumed: "I actually think you're very dangerous.

"I think you're taking God-given children who are innocent, who should be left to enjoy the fruits of life and the wonder and amazement of life and people like you and your husband, who has been struck off for recklessly pumping children or at least referring children for hormones, dangerous levels of testosterone which they shouldn't have been given in the first place without proper medical diagnoses or review in the first place.

"I think you're very dangerous, and actually, I'd say borderline evil."

In Britain, puberty blockers are not prescribed for those under the age of 18 with gender dysphoria.

The ban was implemented following a landmark review by Baroness Cass and assessments by National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) cast doubt on the medication's safety and effectiveness.

Meanwhile, Health Secretary Wes Streeting said the use of the drugs was a "scandal". The current ban is due to be review in 2027 with any future evidence to be considered.
