Robbie Katter will move a bill to ban the athletes if the next Australian Government fails to outlaw it themselves

Transgender athletes could soon be banned from women’s sport in Australia.

An MP in Queensland wants to “outlaw woke and corrosive nonsense” and has pledged to move a bill to ban the athletes if the next Government fail to ban it themselves.

Robbie Katter wants it outlawed within 90 days of the new Government’s formation.

In a statement released on Friday, Mr Ketter said: “If the next federal parliament doesn't outlaw this nonsense and prevent sport in Australia going down the woke and corrosive path it has in the US, I will commit to testing public opinion on this issue in Queensland."

Mr Ketter added that he was concerned female athletes were currently at a great risk of injuring themselves during contact sports, while transgender women could gain “competitive advantages” over biological women.

He continued: “What message is this sending to young female athletes.

“The fact that having these views is being termed by some as radical and bigoted is a deep concern in itself.”

His comments come after a Respect My Sex activist warned of the end of women’s sport as the trangender row continues.

Heather Binning says she finds it “absurd” that “some people in society think that they want to be part of” women’s sport.

When asked on Dan Wootton Tonight whether women’s sport will die off unless more is done to prevent transgender athletes from competing, Ms Binning said: “Absolutely, there is no women sport. It will just be sport.

“There was a time when it was just sport, and then women’s sport came along.

“I think it was 1984 before women’s cycling was in the Olympics, but it’s not that long ago.

“It’s absolutely absurd that finally we had women’s sports and for some reason some people in society think that they want to be part of that.”

She continued: “Their place is taken by a man, and that’s happening at the grassroots, community level sports.

“So there will not be elite women because they are just walking away from it."

The debate sparked when Lia Thomas became the first transgender woman to win an NCAA swimming title last month.
