The mum began shouting racist insults at a flight attendant after trying to kiss him

A Ryanair flight attendant was racially abused by a drunk mum in the “worst incident ever from a passenger” he had seen, a court has heard.

Jessica Horne, 33, began shouting insults at the staff member after she was asked to stop vaping.

On the flight from Fuerteventura to Manchester in March 2022, the “shameful” woman tried to kiss the Ryanair worker.

This resulted in her being moved to various seats across the plane to try and diffuse the situation.

The mum then launched into a foul-mouthed and racist rant, with the flight attendant, who is of Filipino origin, saying that the abuse was “the worst he had ever seen”.

The drunken mum was met on the runway by two officers, who she later proceeded to attack.

Minshull Street Crown Court heard Horne admit to all of the offences, which included entering an aircraft whilst intoxicated, racially aggravated harassment and assaulting two police offices.

Horne was handed a suspended sentence by the judge.

Last year, the 33-year-old spent her final day on holiday in the Canary Islands drinking lots of beer at the resort’s bar, it has been claimed.

She then boarded the plane, alongside her partner and child, when Horne began her tirade of bad behaviour.

Horne began vaping on the plane despite it being forbidden, and staff asked her to stop on five separate occasions.

She was then moved between different locations on the plane.

“He took her to the back of the plane to calm her down and one passenger offered her his seat so she could sit away from her family, as her partner was also complaining about her behaviour,” Lisa Boocock, the prosecutor told the court.

“The defendant then touched the flight attendant and tried to kiss him on the cheek,” she continued.

Her flirty behaviour soon turned into anger, when she began using racist slurs towards the steward, before telling him to “go back home”.

The uncomfortable worker unsuccessfully asked the pilot to redirect the flight.

After being transferred to police custody, Horne scratched and punched a female officer in the face.

The mum-of-three has previous convictions for assaults against officers, racially aggravated harassment and drink driving.

She has expressed her remorse for her actions.

The Judge described her behaviour as “boorish, loutish and shameful”.

Horne was given a 18 month jail term which was suspended for two years. She also has to go to rehab for her alcohol-related issues for 90 days.

The mum must also pay £1,000 in compensation.
