130,000 Russian troops are stationed on the border with Ukraine, as an invasion looks imminent

Russia has "destroyed" five insurgents and two tanks crossing its border with Ukraine, according to Tass - a Russian state news website.

According to the report, military and border guards prevented the five insurgents from completing their "sabotage and reconnaissance" mission.

"On February 21, 2022, at about 06:00 Moscow time, in the area of the settlement of Mityakinskaya in the Rostov region, on the section of the state border of the Russian Federation with the Republic of Ukraine, the border detachment of the FSB of Russia discovered the penetration of a sabotage and reconnaissance group," the state-run press service said.

"As a result of the clash, five violators of the border of the Russian Federation from the sabotage and reconnaissance group were destroyed," it went on.

Russian anti-tank weapons destroyed two Ukrainian tanks, according to the report.

"During the clash for the emergency evacuation of a sabotage group from the territory of Ukraine through the state border with the Russian Federation, two infantry fighting vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine entered," Tass said.

There are no reported Russian casualties.

"There are no casualties among the servicemen of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the border troops of the FSB of Russia," the Southern Military District said.
