Cheshire police have provided a major update following the search for Rachel Booth, confirming that a body found in a lake has been confirmed as the missing mum-of-three.

The body of the 38-year-old was discovered in a lake in the village of Oakmere, Northwich, yesterday.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said in a statement this morning: "A body found in a lake in Oakmere has been formally identified as that of Rachel Booth.

"Rachel's family continue to be supported by specialist officers from Cheshire Police and they ask for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time."

The force previously said there was not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

The mother-of-three was reported missing by her family on Saturday, July 19.

She was captured on CCTV going into a petrol station in Sandiway, Cheshire, at 3.50am.

Police began carrying out searches following her disappearance, including at Delamere Lake holiday park, near Oakmere, over the weekend.

Booth was described as being 5ft 9ins tall with blonde hair and of a slim build.

At the time of her disappearance, police believe she was wearing black leggings with a black top.

Following the discovery of a body in the lake, a spokesman for the police force said: "There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

A statement on the Wild Shore website said it would remain closed until further notice due to "ongoing police investigations".

It read: "The incident is unrelated to Wild Shore – however, we wish to help as much as possible."
