British prisons have witnessed a spate of extreme violence in recent days following other incidents involving Southport killer Axel Rudakubana and Manchester Arena bomber Hashem Abedi.
A prison officer had their throat slashed with an improvised weapon at HMP Woodhill, a Category B clink in Milton Keynes.
This attack is one of three new incidents in high-security jails reported in the last 24 hours.
In a separate incident at HMP Woodhill, another officer was attacked by an inmate, according to the Prison Officers’ Association.
And in HMP Gartree, a category B in Leicestershire, a female officer has sustained a broken arm after a prisoner attacked them while pretending to have an epileptic fit at Gartree Prison.
A prison officer who attended to assist was assaulted then had a TV thrown at him.
GB News also understands that there was a serious assault at HMP Hewell on Friday, where an officer was headbutted.
Sources told the people’s channel that the officer had his face split and his PAVA spray taken off him and used against responding officers
These attacks come after a string of other incidents involving prisoners in recent weeks, including three guards being attacked with the brother of the Manchester Arena bomber and convicted terrorism Hashem Abedi.
Southport murderer Axel Rudakubana was also reported to have ambushed an officer with boiling water at HMP Belmarsh last Thursday.
Steve Gillan Prison Officers Association General Secretary said: “Escalating levels of violence are out of control in the prison service in England and Wales. It appears that HMPPS have learned nothing.
“They continue to ignore the calls from our members on the front line for urgent action to protect Prison Officers from violence.

PA"It is clear Prison regimes must be reviewed as a matter of urgency.”
He added: “We need action to protect Prison Officers before there is a fatality.”
Responding to the spate of attacks, a HMPPS spokesman said: “Officers at HMP Woodhill attended hospital for yesterday following two separate incidents. All were discharged on the same day.
“We will do whatever is necessary to keep our staff safe. The Lord Chancellor has announced a review into protective body armour and a trial of tasers in jails to better respond to serious incidents and will update shortly.”
