A Wiltshire couple with an extraordinary history of good fortune have claimed £142,857 in the Postcode Lottery, six decades after winning the very home they still live in.

Pamela and Anthony Hiscocks, aged 79 and 82, secured their bungalow through a competition organised by the developers who constructed their Melksham estate during the 1960s.

The pair are part of a group of neighbours who collectively shared a £1million prize.

"We've been lucky in the past, but this is just amazing," said Pamela.

The couple intend to distribute their windfall among family members, with a contribution planned for their granddaughter's upcoming wedding.

This year marks a significant milestone for Pamela, who turns 80, while the couple will celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary in October.

"We can pay for everyone to have a once-in-a-lifetime holiday. I'd like a cruise," she said.

The Hiscocks have expressed their desire to treat the entire family to a memorable trip abroad, viewing the lottery prize as an opportunity to create lasting memories together.

With their track record of remarkable wins spanning six decades, the couple appear determined to ensure their latest stroke of luck benefits those closest to them during what promises to be a year of celebration.

Among the fortunate residents celebrating their share of the prize are Lesley, 77, and Philip, 79 - a couple who previously ran a pub together.

For Lesley, the windfall arrives during an especially challenging period, as she is living with incurable cancer.

"It's the first bit of luck we've had for a long time. Doctors told me they can't cure me, but they can give me time," said Lesley.

"After everything, for this to happen is just fantastic."

Her condition was discovered unexpectedly through a scan following a garden accident, and following chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment, her cancer is currently inactive.

"So far, they've given me time and that's all I can really ask for," she added.

The couple are now weighing up whether to use their winnings for home improvements, or perhaps a holiday.

Neighbour Gary Walker, 57, also received a sum from the million-pound pot, and has known Pamela for most of his life, having been served by her when she worked as a school dinner lady.

The close-knit community spirit among the winners has made the occasion particularly special for Pamela.

"We're so close and such good friends. It's just nice that we can share it together," she said of her bond with Lesley.
