A 13-year-old boy has been arrested in connection to a crash which left a pregnant woman with serious injuries.

The crash involving an e-bike occurred at around 3.50pm on January 26 in Poole, where it was reported the rider of the e-bike failed to stop at the scene.



The pedestrian struck was a pregnant woman aged in her 30s, whose baby has since been born and remains in hospital in a serious condition.

Following enquiries, a 13-year-old boy from Poole has been arrested on suspicion of a driving offence, and remains in police custody at this time.

The e-bike reportedly struck the pregnant woman in Herbert Avenue, near the junction with Manor Avenue.

Officers from Dorset Police made the arrest, and have appealed for information from the public to aid their investigation.

Police Sergeant Dan Yates, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our investigation is continuing and we have now made an arrest as part of our enquiries.

“I would like to thank the public who came forward and provided information to help with our investigation.

“We are still appealing for anyone with information in relation to this incident, who has not already spoken to police, to please get in touch.”
