Officers handcuffed Foulkes and scrutinised his book collection, which included works by Spectator columnist Douglas Murray

Fair Cop founder Harry Miller has expressed outrage after police officers searched a pensioner's home and criticised his collection of "Brexity books".

The incident involved Julian Foulkes, a 71-year-old retired special constable from Gillingham, Kent.

Miller condemned the police action as intimidation tactics, saying officers "rifle through everything, and humiliate you".

The search followed a social media post by Foulkes warning about anti-Semitism in Britain.

Foulkes was detained at his home by six officers from Kent Police - the same force he had served for a decade as a special constable.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

The officers arrived without warning after Foulkes challenged a supporter of pro-Palestinian marches on social media platform X.

The Metropolitan Police Intelligence Command had referred his post to Kent Police, citing "concerns around online content".

The incident took place in November 2023, following Hamas attacks in October that led to pro-Palestinian demonstrations in London.

Foulkes was handcuffed in his own home during the police operation. Foulkes had responded to a post from an account called "Mr Ethical" featuring a Palestinian flag.

His reply read: "One step away from storming Heathrow looking for Jewish arrivals".

The post was intended as a warning about where anti-Semitic hate could potentially lead.

Miller fumed: "They never, ever learn. They simply carry on regardless. I'm sick and tired of this. I would have more respect for these police officers if they had put on ski masks, broken in through the back door in the dead of night, and rifled through the bookshelves and drawers looking for Brexiteer knickers. But they don’t.

"They do it under the auspices of having the authority of the state. They brazenly knock on the door and tell you that you're under investigation for the 'criminal act' of supporting Jews. That’s where we’re at.

"So that’s what he did. And then they come in, rifle through everything, and humiliate you. And don’t let your viewers be in any doubt about this when the police turn up like that, especially if you're a 71-year-old man, and a group of officers arrive, what are your neighbours going to think? What’s going to make those curtains twitch?

"They're going to assume you've got something truly dodgy on your hard drive. And that stigma doesn't go away.

"But this, as far as I'm concerned, is the entire point. They knew full well there was no chance of a prosecution.

"This is all about social engineering about shaming people into compliance. It's exactly the kind of tactic the Cheka used on behalf of Stalin in the 1930s Soviet Union. It’s not British. It’s not right. And every single person involved in this from the Chief Constable all the way down to the station mouse needs sacking."
