The council allegedly told him to 'delete your X account or your YouTube or you will be fired'

A Pakistani-born activist who has lived in Britain since 2008 faces potential deportation after Swansea Council dismissed him over social media posts supporting Tommy Robinson.

Shoaib Sohail told GB News he was sacked for his "political views" after the council discovered his support for Robinson, whom he "doesn't think is a racist".

The council allegedly told him to "delete your X account or your YouTube or you will be fired", according to his interview with Martin Daubney.

Despite coming to Britain legally and expressing deep love for the country, Sohail now fears deportation as a consequence of losing his employment.

Sohail defended his stance, explaining his support for white British people stems from personal experience. "The reason why I defend white people is, I have been in the country since 2008, I met so many white, British people and they have shown me so much kindness," he said.

He rejected claims of systemic racism made by his own community. "My own community says to me they are all racist. They talk about systemic racism and I have seen none."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

Despite English not being his first language, Sohail said he encountered only kindness from white British people and was "trying to pay back for all the blessings I have received since being in the UK."

Sohail expressed frustration at the contrast between his situation and those arriving illegally. "I came here legally. I pay my expensive Home Office and NHS fee and these people just turn up and claim asylum," he said.

"All these illegal immigrants coming here, we don't know where they come from," he added.

Despite facing potential deportation, Sohail maintained his devotion to Britain. "I love Britain more than anything else. That is why I do what I do," he told GB News.

Martin Daubney noted the "irony" that Sohail could arrive via small boat from Calais and "things would work out fine for him."

GB News has approached Swansea City Council for comment.

The situation unfolds as Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced plans to restrict visas for countries refusing to sign return agreements with Britain.

Speaking at the G7 summit in Canada, Starmer said the UK would take a "much more transactional" approach, tying visa allocations to cooperation on migration issues.

The UK currently has return agreements with several countries including Pakistan, Albania, India and Iraq.

Starmer told reporters the Government was "looking at whether we should tie our visas to the work that the countries we're dealing with are doing on preventative measures and on return agreements."

The Prime Minister faces mounting pressure to address record levels of net migration and Channel crossings.
