The Oxford Union is willing to "eject aggressive representatives" supporting George Abaraonye to push ahead with a no confidence vote into Britain's most prestigious debating society's president-elect, GB News can exclusively reveal.

Mr Abaraonye's allies have been accused of "intimidating" the Oxford Union's returning officer following Saturday's crunch vote.

In the letter, seen by GB News, the returning officer said: "The decision to suspend at the time was not one made due to the material substance of the election process, but rather on account of present parties actively subtracting from the Extraordinary Returning Officer's efforts to ascertain a result.

"Returning a result is of utmost importance. The Membership have voted in large numbers, and the Oxford Union Society is fundamentally a democratic institution. The voices of the Membership must be heard."

However, an Oxford Union source told GB News: "Hopefully we push ahead with the vote soon, given the returning officer is now willing to ignore and eject aggressive counting representatives."

"They were throwing sand in the gears of the returning officer validating alumni proxy votes," the insider added.

The People's Channel understands that Mr Abaraonye's supporters were "verbally abusing" the returning officer, demanding legal arguments regarding the validity of proxy votes.

"It was every single f**king proxy vote," the Oxford Union veteran claimed.

Mr Abaraonye's supporters have even mounted a last-ditch attempt to hold a confidence vote in the current president, Moosa Harraj.

Mr Harraj was said to have undertaken an instrumental role in opening up proxy votes.

Mr Abaraonye called the no confidence vote in himself on October 13, giving members and alumni the opportunity to remove him before even taking office.

The 20-year-old said that he wanted to reclaim "true accountability and [affirm] that the Oxford Union must remain a place where students can make mistakes, apologise sincerely, and learn from them".

In another post on Saturday, the president-elect told union members: "Today is your opportunity to affirm Free Speech, to stand against the racism of the Far Right, and to stand up for the principles the Union has championed for 200 years.

"Two centuries later, the same people who claim to believe in the Union are now acting in stark opposition to the Union’s founding principles, by supporting a campaign of harassment, censorship, and abuse. We will not be silenced."

The Oxford Union's process was made even more chaotic earlier today it lost membership registers dating from 1961 to 1980, with a life peers and ex-presidents turned away from proceedings.

Ex-Treasurer Ann Widdecombe, former Migration Minister Damian Green and British broadcaster Gyles Brandreth were all members of the Oxford Union during that impacted period.

Mr Abaraonye, who became president-elect of the historic debating society after a vote in June, sparked fury last month after Mr Kirk was shot dead at a Utah Valley University event.

The 31-year-old conservative activist was a Donald Trump ally and co-founder of Turning Point USA.

Mr Abaraonye appeared to send a celebratory message to a WhatsApp group chat after the news emerged that the father-of-two had been shot.

The leaked messages showed Mr Abaraonye writing: "Charlie Kirk got shot, let’s f**king go".

A separate message, posted on the final-year philosophy, politics and economics student's Instagram, added: "Charlie Kirk got shot loool."

He later deleted the message after learning of Mr Kirk's death, admitting that he "acted poorly" without "knowing about the situation".

The row has also raised serious concerns for the Oxford Union after it was revealed that hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of donations had been frozen from the debating society.

Mr Kirk's allies have threatened to lead a boycott of the Oxford Union unless its president-elect resigns.

Mikey McCoy, a senior official at Turning Point USA, read out an open letter to the Oxford Union signed by him and two close friends of Mr Kirk.

Mr Kirk's allies vowed to “personally contact every American political speaker who has ever graced the union’s chamber and urge them never again to lend their name, time or reputation to that institution that has betrayed its founding ideals”.

“If this vote fails, the Oxford Union will have proven that it is no longer the last bastion of free speech, but has instead become a place of destructive conversation, corrosive not only to society but to the human spirit, soul and conscience,” it added.
