The tennis star's family have spoken exclusively to GB News about his current plight.

Novak Djokovic's family fear he will be rearrested at any minute after a court ruled the Australian government had the power to overturn an appeal decision granting him a visa.

The world number one had been detained ahead of the Australian Open over Covid vaccination issues.

Djokovic, 34, who has not been vaccinated, argued that catching Covid in December made him exempt from needing a vaccination.

Nigel Farage spoke to Djokovic's uncle this morning about the situation.

He told GB News: "Novak Djokovic met all of the criteria that were required by the Victorian State government to fly in to Melbourne, on that basis a visa was issued to him.

"The judge made it very clear, the Australian government does have the right to overrule the court this morning, so there is still the prospect that and could be arrested and deported and that is exactly where we are right now."

Mr Farage added that reports of the tennis star being arrested this morning had not been confirmed.

He added: "A Serbian journalist who's spoken to the father suggesting that he has been arrested but this is unconfirmed. The family can't believe what's going on."

Farage added that if Djokovic was detained again in Australia, the country risked becoming a "banana republic".

The court released a transcript of Djokovic’s interview with Border Force last week, during which the Serb confirmed he has had Covid-19 twice and is not vaccinated.

In the transcript, when asked why he was travelling to Australia, Djokovic said: “I’m a professional tennis player and the main reason for me coming to Australia is participating in the Australian Open in Melbourne Victoria.”

In response to a question about his vaccination status, he said: “I am not vaccinated.”

When asked if he had ever had Covid-19, Djokovic replied: “I had Covid twice, I had Covid in June 2020 and I had Covid recently in – I was tested positive – PCR – 16th December 2021.”

Nigel Farage will be speaking exclusively to Djokovic's uncle on GB News later today.
