The Prime Minister is under growing pressure following the publication of the Sue Gray report last week

Nigel Farage has admitted that he believes Boris Johnson isn’t the “right man for now” as he calls on Tory MPs to “man up and take a gamble”.

Mr Johnson is facing growing pressure following the publication of Sue Gray's report last week, which highlighted various lockdown-breaking parties in No 10 and Whitehall.

As a result, a number of Conservative MPs publicly submitted letters of no confidence to the 1922 Committee.

And speaking on GB News, Nigel believes that now is the right time for Tory MPs to “take a gamble”.

Nigel said: “It’s agony, every morning we wake up to a new story about Boris Johnson.

“This morning it was Lord Geidt, he’s the ethics man, he might possibly resign because he thinks actually the fine Boris got may well have breached the ministerial code.

“And then we had ministers coming out, 30 former ministers and back benchers who we know have lodged letters with the chairman of the 1922 committee.

"And if we’ve got to 30 in public, how many is that going to be in public.

“And is there going to be a poll within the Conservative Party next week amongst its MEPs on Boris next week or will they wait until June 23.”

He continued: “That date again, this time it’s not a referendum, it is going to be bi-elections that will take place in Wakefield and Honiton and Tiverton in Devon.

“His defenders are basically saying, if you get rid of Boris we will lose the next general election.

“But those putting in letters are saying if we lose, we will lose the next general election.

“I have to say, for my money I think Boris was the right man for 2019, I don’t think he’s the right man for now.

“And those of you who are firm supporters of him, all I would say is this to you.

“There are enough of those who voted Conservative in 2019, they are so disillusioned with this Prime Minister, that I think it’s time Tory MPs manned up and took a gamble.

“Yes it will be a gamble because they is no obvious successor.”
