The production is reported to tell the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's 'love story'

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Netflix documentary series has been delayed amid backlash relating to the upcoming season of The Crown, reports claim.

The Duke and Duchess' production is reported to tell their "love story" but it will no longer arrive for November as originally scheduled, instead being pushed back to 2023.

Netflix executives are said to be "rattled" by the ill-feeling towards the upcoming season of The Crown, with its release date coming just weeks after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Bosses have been slammed for "inventing" moments, such as a young Charles attempting to "oust" Queen Elizabeth II.

The show also recreates the last moments of Princess Diana, played by Elizabeth Debicki, before her fatal car crash in Paris.

Insiders claim that Netflix executives feel it would not be appropriate to immediately follow The Crown with Meghan and Harry's production.

A source told Deadline: "They’re rattled at Netflix, and they blinked first and decided to postpone the documentary."

The untitled series is yet to set an official broadcast date but officials had indicated a willingness to deliver a "double-whammy" of royal content, with The Crown shortly followed by the documentary, produced by Netflix and Archewell Productions.

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, concerns over potential criticism of the monarch has stumped the plans.

Netflix said Monday that ”there’s never been any documentary from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed.”
