The woman said she was forced to park 'halfway down the street' and carry five bags of shopping up to her home on one occasion

A woman taught her "self-entitled" neighbour a costly lesson after he repeatedly parked on her driveway.

The anonymous homeowner, who works as a nurse, lives in a small cul-de-sac and has enough room to park hers and her husband's cars in front of her home.

But her neighbour, who she referred to as Jack, frequently filled her parking space, forcing her to park on the street.

The disgruntled woman wrote in a post to Reddit: "First time it happened I thought it was a mistake.

"His brother’s car was in there, he said it would 'just be a sec.' A week later it was some friend of his 'dropping something off'.

"I didn’t love it, but I figured whatever, not worth making it awkward.

"But it kept happening. I would come home from work (I’m a nurse, so some days I’m wiped out), and there’s a random car blocking me."

She explained that on one occasion, she had been forced to park "halfway down the street" and carry five bags of shopping to her home.

But the "final straw" came when the woman returned home after a 12-hour shift and discovered a "giant white SUV" parked in the middle of her drive.

She said: "I knock, no answer. I call Jack, he finally picks up, and super casual goes: 'Oh yeah that’s my in-laws. They’ll only be there a couple hours. Just park on the street, it’s not a big deal.' That was it for me.

"I called a tow truck. (And yes, I checked before — where I live if someone blocks your private driveway, you’re allowed to tow immediately.) Tow guy showed up in 20 mins, SUV was gone before I even finished half my fries."

She explained her neighbour began banging on her door around an hour later, saying she "didn't have to take it that far".

"They had to pay almost $300 to get their car back. And funny enough, ever since then, my driveway has stayed crystal clear," the Reddit post concluded.

Responding to the post, one person wrote that the man's "self-entitlement" was "wild".

Another added: "Congratulations, you just unlocked ‘Neighborhood Parking Enforcement Officer’ mode.

"He gambled on your kindness one too many times. Lesson learned."

"Blocking a nurse after a 12-hour shift? That man deserved every penny of that $300 lesson," a third person wrote.

"Honestly, you had way more patience than I would’ve. I’d have called the tow truck the second time it happened."

Another Reddit user described the neighbour's actions as "outrageous".

"Your private drive is private property. You should have towed the very first car to park there," they commented.

"Your neighbour has no respect for anyone."
