A neighbour row has erupted between rock legend Eric Clapton and his Surrey neighbours regarding their property renovation plans.
The 80-year-old musician has formally opposed the reconstruction of a £2.3million residence next to his estate.
Mr Clapton's neighbours acquired the Surrey Hills property last year and intend to demolish and reconstruct it entirely.
The guitarist submitted formal objections to local planning authorities, arguing the development represents "a significant and unacceptable invasion" of his privacy.
The musician has resided at Hurtwood Edge, his Italian-style villa in the village of Ewhurst, for five decades.
He describes the property as his "sanctuary" and "place of retreat, peace, and privacy".
The proposed redevelopment features an expansive open-plan area that combines kitchen, dining, and living spaces.
Plans feature a boot room, a snug area, separate studies for both occupants, and a master suite with a dedicated dressing room.

A basement level would accommodate three additional bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom.
The design incorporates a raised outdoor terrace and substantial glass facades throughout the property.
Clapton particularly objects to the "elevated terrace" which he claims would provide direct sightlines to his swimming pool area.
The extensive glass elements planned for the new structure have also drawn criticism from the veteran musician.

The guitarist emphasised his status as a public figure requiring privacy for both personal and professional reasons.
He wrote in his objection letter: "The property is frequently used for private meetings and media-related work that requires discretion and seclusion."
He expressed concerns about potential noise from the planned terrace area.
The musician said the site's sloping terrain would enable the raised terrace and glass-fronted design to create "clear, downward-facing views" into his private grounds.
Mr Clapton stressed the estate's "tranquil, rural character" remains "highly sensitive to changes" and warned the development threatens these valued qualities.
The property owners maintain their development aims to create an energy-efficient residence suitable for their retirement needs.
Representatives for the owners say the design will accommodate "in-house care and support" while minimising running and maintenance expenses.
They argued the new dwelling would not substantially increase the existing footprint and claimed the development would "actually improve the character and views of the Green Belt."
The neighbours positioned their plans as environmentally conscious with "maximum energy efficiency" features.
Local planning officials have granted permission for the development to proceed, despite the rock star's formal opposition.
Mr Clapton had noted his longstanding positive relationships with neighbours who shared his commitment to preserving the area's natural environment and privacy.
